Help required, by jeanmichel on Feb 9, 2023 7:34:14 GMT 1, Hi all i know how supportive you can be and need some helpโฆ I bought a piece of art, it was delivered in perfect condition and I didnโt open the tube. Took the print to the framers they opened the tube rolled out the print and checked the print and provided me with a slip highlighting my framing request, and ticked the print was not damaged. I picked up the print took it home and noticed some damage to the print. To cut a long story short, he is not helping at all and blames meโฆ what can I legally do?

Help required, by dotdot on Feb 9, 2023 10:09:08 GMT 1, OP, contact a restorer - have them do an assessment then contact the framer with the detail and the cost.
Advise the framer that you want the work to be repaired and that he is clearly responsible since the work has been in his care since de-tubing (does such a word exist?).
Framers are sometimes nice people - sometimes otoh they are just like others who doesn't actually value customers (they don't last long)... they are 'the others'.
Was this framer recommended to you ?
Don't forget to advise others of your experience.
glwy "framer"..
(for context we've all been there - at least once ! ).

Without wanting to sound rude or anything how do you know it was in perfect condition if you didn't open the tube? Did you see it in person once the framer unrolled it and signed it off?

Help required, by DB on Feb 9, 2023 12:05:29 GMT 1, I'm also pissed off with my framer! First and last time I'll use them...
Had a print float mounted, within 24hrs of getting it home it was lifting away from mount board. Took it back and they didn't apologise or accept the fact that their work had failed and it was my fault for choosing that framing method.
Complete and utter C**TS

Help required, by Deleted on Feb 9, 2023 12:15:01 GMT 1, He said the framer ticketed โnot damagedโ - which means the framer acknowledges they check the piece. Unless itโs million dollar piece thereโs not much you can do. The best is to write a public review. There are a lot of really bad framing companies out there that do this all the time. People should know who they are and stay away from them. They can easily destroy artwork, charge you and never pay to fix it. I think this unfortunately happens way more than it should. Choose your framer wisely.
