Fraudster alert - Crooks impersonating Dappy, by LJCal on Mar 20, 2023 0:11:32 GMT 1, So a couple of shit stains responded to an with this message claiming that Dappy is selling a Kusama print. Thinking nothing off it I contacted the email address and asked which print the alleged Dappy was selling, a response came through in pretty broken English and after exchanging a few emails managed to explain that I was looking for Kusama print and to send over what they had. The sender than sends me a rare and sought after Lichtenstein print. I explained that what he sent me wasn't Kusama but he seemed oblivious and then asks what my best offer would be and informs that he could offer a significant discount. Obviously not the most sophisticated fraudsters fortunately, looking at the first message and the fact it's a new account and the language I should have spotted it straight away and never reached out.
I've done plenty of buys and sells on here and never had any issues so even though I'm fairly diligent still find myself being complacent, this is a nice reminder to be on guard and one that fortunately didn't cost me. Hopefully mods will ban the new user and members be aware fraudsters do target people here, so get references, do your research and if it feels wrong don't chance it. Stay safe.

In hindsight why would another member tell someone to contact an email rather than DM? obviously a red flag I missed. Sorry they dragged your name into it I'm guessing they just choose members who have been around a long time and are well known, as you say scrots. |
