You don't own the copyright to it, but you own that specific code for the Jpeg or Gif. I'm sure I got that wrong. Anyways, someday in the near distant future I imagine NFT's will have value. Maybe exclusive 3D Concerts, something like owning the only copy of the Tupac 3D Hologram from Coachella that nobody else can watch  .That's how I would explain it. Also NFT's can be used for Contractual purchases in the future, think of concert tickets that could be sold and transferred without Stubhub or Ticketmaster Fees.

I genuinely still have no idea what an NFT is An NFT makes their owners believe that they are entitled to special privileges for as long as they own it (and as such they can constantly moan if they donโt get what they want). It is also a bit like owning some โmagic beansโ in that the owner thinks they are magic, but everyone else knows they are not. ๐ |

They have a number of benefits compared to their boomer trad art cousins:
- Free framing services
- No need to bang holes in walls or even have walls
- Dont have to post in forums asking about alternatives to paypall
- Cheap and instant shipping anywhere in the world
- Immutable provenance and easily verifiable proof of ownership and COAs

But people are generally suckers for canvas. Hirst spot paintings on canvas sells for 10 times the price they fetch on paper. My guess is the working process from pencil to paint is more or less the same when it comes to time consumed. Maybe pencil even takes longer time to produce. So it comes down to the surface to decide price. And here surface is canvas and the image unique... I could be wrong. It almost never happens :-)
