Bast, by Art Collector 11 on May 26, 2023 3:11:41 GMT 1, What is everyone's opinion on Bast and his effect in the New York street scene and being possibly viewed as the next Basquiat?
Love to hear everyone's opinion on this as I believe he should be much more well known and shared then he currently is.

Bast, by bonesy on May 26, 2023 12:13:17 GMT 1, My favorite artist. Iโve for sure spent more time looking for new images online of his work than anyone else over the years, and I still come across new ones- he put a lot of work into the streets. Long shot at this point for him gaining a ton of new attention though unless Brooklyn Museum or someone did a retrospective.

Bast, by Art Collector 11 on May 26, 2023 13:20:16 GMT 1, There definitely needs to be a proper documentary on Bast and his work. When searching online or YouTube there are no great videos documenting his life and work. A great documentary should be made of him about his background, how his work evolved and with other artists commentaries about him.

Bast, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on May 26, 2023 21:46:20 GMT 1, A great artist and I have always been intrigued by his works since I started collecting when I found POW early on. I collected Banksy, Dolk, nick walker, invader and a few others but always wanted 'a nice dirty bast' up on the wall. He was/is definitely an important artist in our scene and I presume his work was liked and respected by New Yorkers and the new York art world also. Anyone now if there any works still up on walls in New York? His collage/paste ups will be long gone but we're there any paintings?
We use to have a thread on the forum after Xmas every year which was 'what art are after in 2011' etc.. And every year I think I wrote 'a nice rare dirty Bast print would be great' but never did pick one up.
So I was so happy to purchase his print from Avante Art, when it's framed and up on the wall I will post photos. โค๏ธ

Bast, by Art Collector 11 on May 26, 2023 22:04:23 GMT 1, Crime in the City, I imagine you have โgreat taste.โ ๐คฃ Speaking in terms of artists speaking on behalf of other great artists, Banksy and Faile both credit Bast as a great artist. This would put provenance to an artist like Bast being a great artist who was creative and unique.
Crime in the City, it seems you are coming off as a Troll. This thread was more a question to speak about a great artist who has passed not for anyone to attack other users.

Bast, by esfer on May 27, 2023 0:54:33 GMT 1, I think Bast is very underrated. But he will eventually be sought after by major collectors (in my opinion). His anonymity is actually a negative though, as it means any history or knowledge about him or his art will take time to come out. Many collectors no nothing about Bast.
I also think his output was varied and wasn't constant in terms of quality or consistency.
I would like to have a blue chip in my collection though.

Some obvious BAST influences there (along with Matisse and other artists), to the point of arguably being derivative โ but this work is by Joรซl Bigaignon.
His recent show at Allouche Gallery was Slowlyness In Motion (15 December 2022โ5 February 2023).

Not yet, but very much looking forward to it.
I was waiting for the final episode to be released, so I could then binge-watch the entire season.
