Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by JW on Jun 24, 2023 9:18:08 GMT 1, I had a look at some of the eBay listings for items from the exhibition and I was amazed by the number of people selling Polaroids of themselves with their listings. I’ve got no issues with people selling items from the exhibition (plus receipts/tickets), but why would anyone really want a Polaroid of someone else? These items don’t need photographic provenance of the tw@t who couldn’t wait to sell on eBay. If anyone reading this thinks about selling their Polaroid, then do the world a favour and keep it as a memory instead. 😉 Agreed. Similar with the Dismaland Cinderella souvenir photos.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by Daniel Silk on Jun 24, 2023 9:30:40 GMT 1, People clearly are taking photos inside the exhibition so trying to stop those who are less sneaky is just stupid. I hate going anywhere that has a huge list of rules and restrictions, I can't understand Banksy's thinking behind the no photos rule as everyone knows that in the modern world publicity comes from the public taking and sharing photos. Daniel Silk - I'd agree. Having been in there, the photos are the equivalent of buying the book. Sure, you can see what's in there. In truth, you have to see it with your own eyes to appreciate the intricacy of the stencils, how they've been 'preserved' with backing to be put on display at this show, etc, etc. Any photos are just a tease. It's a fantastic exhibition - get over to it if you guys can. Photos won't be worth sh1t! Caveat would be this - There are a couple of places that are bottlenecks if the show is relatively busy. If people were allowed take photos, it would become a nightmare in terms of traffic. Plus in terms of getting time to examine the exhibits. Selfies, etc. etc People taking photos and posting on social media is just like talking, telling people what you saw and what you like. Stopping people taking photos seems very backwards thinking. Imagine the Cans Tunnel events with no photos allowed? 😂 Loosing touch.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by Daniel Silk on Jun 24, 2023 9:58:11 GMT 1, The impression I always got from the very start was most people enjoyed Banksy's work and style or putting on events was that it was rebellious and people friendly. In recent years it's become all about control 😔 with websites dominated by pages listing rules, what you can and can't do, what laws apply. I really can't understand what direction they think they are going?

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by avec art on Jun 24, 2023 10:17:40 GMT 1, Apologies if I've misunderstood your post here and made a false inference.
That's ok no false inference has been made, and your points are valid. I'm aware of misregistration made especially when speed is required. I'm trying to pinpoint why this particular piece didn't initially grab be as being authentic.
The example posted of the mini mouse bow is the sort of similarity I was looking for. The last Banksy piece I saw in person was the Reading Gaol one, of which the execution is extraordinary. However with that I think there was time to create it behind a scaffold, albeit mostly during the night.

You end up doing too much ducking and diving when you are avoiding other people's photos. Whether you do not want to ruin their photo or to be caught in a photo you don't want to be part of.
The majority of photos taken would not be looked at again anyway, despite causing a nuisance when being taken.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by kjg on Jun 24, 2023 10:40:30 GMT 1, Just back from the show. I had avoided all press and discussion so didn't know what to expect. It's MUCH better than anticipated. Very humorous. Took a small rucksack with me, no issues. The staff are great. Managed to get a blurred Polaroid. The 'giftshop' was very quiet. Didn't see anyone except me buy anything. The chap said the stock was NOT infinite and when it's gone, it's gone. Looked to have plenty when I was there though. Will probably head back through in August for another look with my son. Well worth a visit IMO. I got a wee bit scared when I read your post, so I contacted the museum. They told me last night that there should be enough stock for the whole run of the show. So hopefully the shopdude was wrong.

Doesn't have the same vibe as a Banksy for that reason.

Im not sure whats on the long list of rules but accessing the museum was like going into any exhibition, no hassles at all. Only unusual thing is popping your phone into a locked pouch.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by ocean89 on Jun 24, 2023 13:07:25 GMT 1, Hi everyone! How does it work with the poster/ tote bag?
Is there like a little shop at the end? What are the prices. Do they accept cash only or also cards? Are they limited per day? -> Early tickets have a higher chance to get these items?
Thanks for the help!

Is it one set per person or can you buy 2 or 3?

PM me if interested in purchasing They are refundable but not transferable as far as I understood? Is this correct? I’ve booked for next weekend but cannot attend so booked for July then couldn’t find affordable travel so now down for August with decent train price…and train strikes subsequently announced.
Be good to get something back for the tickets I won’t use.
Ho hum…may just drive up in August.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by Daniel Silk on Jun 24, 2023 14:26:15 GMT 1, But could this be Banksy trying to combat all those unofficial tours Banksy exhibitions? He's obviously annoyed they are touring the world and using his name, so is this the start of an official one, that will relocate to the new city every few months? I suspect they wouldn't announce that as a plan now as they would want to wait and see the response of the Glasgow show first.

Doing his own thing regardless of what other people try and do shows conviction of his standing and self appreciation. He said it made sense to do the show here because he thinks the statue with the cone on its head is his favourite piece of sculpture. Can't see that narrative being used elsewhere! I bet my poster/tote/book set it doesn't tour.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by drip on Jun 24, 2023 14:59:29 GMT 1, use you're imagination lol Teenage Banksy did If that is the best he had to ‘work with’, Banksy either had a very deprived upbringing or an unbelievably good imagination. This might not even be a masturbation aid. It might've been an aspirational image. Maybe this was something young Banksy wanted for the future. A convertible car, a girlfriend or wife. Chips.
But I was a teenage boy once, I remember the intoxication of those hormones running unchecked.
A teenage boy would make love to the gap in the cushions of their grandmother's couch if left alone for long enough.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by Acme Thunderer on Jun 24, 2023 15:23:49 GMT 1, If that is the best he had to ‘work with’, Banksy either had a very deprived upbringing or an unbelievably good imagination. There must be something specific about Pukka Pies or chip shops that relate to his childhood for the poster to be positioned where it was. Everything else in the room had a clever reference such as music, war, politics or places in Bristol. It is definitely not about bashing one out. 😊
