It's also worth remembering that that is what the buyer pays (plus ARR, of course). But the seller gets much less than that.  At a guess, the seller actually received around £1,700. 

I believe Weiwei is still a Chinese national and as such would not be entitled to ARR, although I expect he is looking to procure Portuguese citizenship this will take some years. I’d say the seller would have received anywhere between £1760-2000 depending on the seller fee agreed with TW. The buyer would have paid around £2,600 with taxes.

I didn't buy it and I don't think I'm a pinball machine, rather I think I'm just a fan of beautiful things and art in general. Honestly, I think that vase could be worth a lot more. Banksy prints are also worth much more than the prices at auction in recent months. Just as Noir, Lady Pink and others, sold at auction recently, are worth more.

You should buy art because you like it. And then obviously, if you manage to have a vase or a canvas that you like and over the years multiply the initial price by 10 or 1000 times it is even better.
It means that you have chosen well and that your collection has a high value in every sense.

If there is anyone who wants to invest and have an immediate return, then I can advise that it is time to lose these reasonings for the next few years. Or at least don't expect who knows what economic advantages.
Obviously, once this medium-long period has passed, there will be satisfaction for everyone!... For collectors and also for everyone else.

I’m not sure 3x your money in like 3 months is exactly losing. I think a lot of peiole who bought just expected people to be falling over themselves to buy for 5-10x retail which they’re clearly not. In terms of getting a better result in a top tier auction house I wouldn’t bank on it, these will end up in an online only sale and those have been complete shit shows of late, very little difference with live sales from lower tier houses.

So far we have the following sales reported:
Member of the Heni Discord bought one for 5k usd in the first week.
There was one listed on artsy at the same time for 8.5k usd listed which has sold (probably best offer)
Ebay sales for 3824£+638£ shipping and 4800$
And one auction result in a third class auction house for 2k£ hammer.

And some ignorant people here still believe these are worth 2k max.
I‘ll keep mine forever so i don‘t care much if these are selling for 1 or 100k
But this forum is full of ignorant clowns who don‘t have anything better to do than posting 15 nonsense comments a day.
