For somebody who claims not to be a flipper, your seem pretty obsessed about how much these are worth on the secondary market. I suggest you stop insulting people and maybe start following your own advice.

In the current market anyone paying more than ยฃ3k is either uniformed or likes spunking money up the wall, patient and savvy buyers will get one for sub ยฃ2.5k.

First of all, atm a lot of flippers bought the Vase and many of them want to get rid of it asap. There were 300 so even if itยดs a low edition compared to the middle fingers, itยดs still quiet high if lot of people try to sell. The market is anything but healthy at the moment - auction results hit bottoms and many dont even sell.
Sorry but Tate Wards (in my opinion) isnt known for the best auction results, especially if the market is down because there are less tourists and many people who know the market very well.
I also think, whoever sold the Vase there is not happy with the outcome and would not have put it in if he knew the result. He was hoping for many bidders since its the first one on auction. Auctions can bring good results but at bad times with the wrong audencie also bad results like now. I said here, if anybody wants to sell for 1700 hit me up - nobody does ofc. And even if people sell for 2500 Pounds atm its 3x what you have paid for - still a huge win!
The Vase looks really good - Avant Arte did a great job with the collaboration with Ai Weiwei - not only the Vases but also with the other pieces. They are iconic, itยดs a low edition to a really low price. Everybody who got one piece - no matter which - already won. I doubt any of them will ever sell for less than what you paid for and they all look good and a lot will end up on walls - maybe from the buyer himself or whoever bought it afterwards.
All of them will go up in long term - also the Vase (which is currently at around 3k - 4k in my opinion - in gallerys even way more) - will later be somewhere around 5k-8k and maybe outperform the Middlefingers easily. The question is if it was a one time project with the glass vases or will it repeat. Due to many reclaims about many beeing not in the best conditions its possible it wont. Also they all look a little different in color - what i personally love.
So please stop over-interpreting every auction. There are many factors that go into a result and the price is not only determined by the buyer but also by the seller.

I called Tate and they told me to wait, so I called Crhistie's and spoke to a young woman with a lovely voice. He gave me a summary assessment, but when he was about to talk about the price, the vase slipped from my hands and ended up ruinously on the floor. It split into two perfectly equal parts and after a few moments of terror, everything turned into enlightenment.
I decided to sell my Red vase in 2 different auctions, half in one and half in the other auction house. So we'll see if it's worth a little or if it's worth a lot!
In your opinion, is it necessary for the vase to be by Ai Weiwei, or is a red vase sufficient (preferably transparent)?

The market is working just fine right now. High prices due to high demand is not a sign of a healthy market nor the normal case. It might just be the case that people wont have money for things like this for a very long time.
This is why I think people need to stop seeing art editions, collectibles, etc. as investments. They're only worth something if people have too much money to spend. If they have enough surplus to spend large sums on things that don't have utility. This is not to be expected.
