When asked about the story, a member of the Pest Control team replied, "not true."

Their story did not hold water, and the history of the works was starting to be put together. They new these facts before the auction.
That said, I believe when I watched the auction live the works did not receive minimum bids, and only showed up as “sold” after the fact. So unclear exactly what transpired.
