Im just making a point that an artist cannot just decide what they do and do not like anymore when they already printed, signed and they know people have them in their collections. You say he would not do that but what stops him based on whats been demonstrated with LA2 one which looks to have been a potential edition that did not happen. You cant just call them fake though, thats wrong wording. No one has faked these stik prints, despite the simple nature of stik and having seen actual fake attempts, they stand out like a sore thumb as being real.
The book prints werent sold, so to try to compare them to a sold edition is ridiculous, not the same at all.

I just find the whole thing with STIK's behaviour a little strange sometimes. I have heard other stories about him not confirming something is his work, when in fact it was 100% his and evidence was there. He just didn't want to. Also, for years he has been pumping what is being sold at auction etc, just seems a little bit odd to me considering he is this trailblazer for doing good things for good causes. I just find the way he behaves a little bit strange.

It is my experience and the experience of others, that Stik ignores authentication requests or just responds with โwhere did you buy it, and whenโ and then ignores all further replies. I find your replies frustrating as youโre presenting his team as the end-all, be-all when it comes to authentication, when we know otherwise. Unissued prints are however different, if the artist had never intended them to be for sale theyโre not part of his catalog. Stikโs overall behavior makes us question his actions, and rightly so. The presentation of a full back story could alleviate these concerns, along with a promise to go through all of those ignored emails and to provide replies. |

Stik seems like a strange very money driven character, I wouldnโt surprise me if these just were not going too well at auction so he just decided to disown them.

STIK is an artist who cares tremendously about his primary and secondary markets. He felt the need to publicly speak up about a work of art that was credited to him & LA2 that he deemed not authorized for sale. IMO he handled the situation with professionalism and informed the general public about the situation, with the intention that someone would not buy these works only to find out that they will not be authorized by either artist in the future. Instead of attacking the artist, we should be appreciative of the warning.

The filming aspect of the movie is complete and the editing process for almost 3 years of footage will take a bit more time. The documentary is a detailed account of the history of LA2 both personally and professionally and brilliantly tells the story of how a 12 year old kid from the projects in NYC, artistically inspired and collaborated with the most famous urban artists of the past 100 years. You will laugh, cry and question everything you thought you knew about LA2 and his place in art history as it relates to the Urban Art Movement from 1980 - 2024. I have seen a preview of the documentary and the cinematic quality is amazing - Ferco Kol is a young gifted documentarian who will be making noise for years to come !!!!!!

Many people are still waiting for your pal Stik to reply to polite authentication requests that he continues to ignore for years. Heโs probably the best source for print authentication. We have to wonder why he continues to just accumulate information on the works out there and then ignore collectors afterwards.

Many people are still waiting for your pal Stik to reply to polite authentication requests that he continues to ignore for years. Heโs probably the best source for print authentication. We have to wonder why he continues to just accumulate information on the works out there and then ignore collectors afterwards.

I have a high amount of confidence that Stik is being being extremely meticulous about this process. In the meantime I would stay away from RYCA counterfeits. |
