I love Shrigley - have tons of his stuff. I bought the dog,
But the facts are what the facts are. The dog has sold 10 pieces in the last couple days, and there are still ~70 left. Between NGV and Wallner alone we have hundreds (literally) of his prints, at primary release, sitting unsold at $2200-$2500.
Not sure who the Shrigley taste makers are in the world (or who spends $10K+ on his prints at auction), but these works do not appear to have been blessed by them yet...

Shrigleys can vary significantly in their qualities and admiration but prices have continued to increase and are now out of the grasps of his more casual fans. ยฃ2000+ for a print is not loose change for the majority (flippers be warned) and artistic integrity is likely questionable by the more discerning art critics leaving him in a space of limbo.
I think there is a real concern the bottom falls out of his โmarketโ. He is prolific (multiple prints every month) and for real art collectors (particularly the โinvestorsโ) this is a major turn off.
These prints are okay (not his best) but there will be more in a matter of weeks that I might like moreโฆ and repeat.

New Shrigleys, by topper on Jan 30, 2024 9:51:52 GMT 1, So, after much back and forth with DHL and NGV, I finally received the correct tax invoice for this to the UK at ยฃ110. Original they were asking for over ยฃ400. Luckily I was in no hurry.
If anyone is having issues get in touch with NGV, they are aware of the issue (i'm sure I and not the only one) and are blaming DHL.
