When you make a mystery out of it, it will arouse people's interest even more

And for me, framing ALWAYS goes with the image, colour, composition ... not knowing what you are trying to frame makes it near impossible to suggest anything. But as a wild guess I would say that a white floating wood frame could work!?

The closest I have with a white canvas is this. I used a black ash tray frame and the depth of this is 55mm (for a 40mm deep canvas).

They are framed in the artist’s original frames. Which is what I do with all my canvases. It’s raw, it’s real, it’s how the artist saw the piece as they made it. The art speaks for itself. Not interpreted or translated or augmented through you or your framer.

Same with my paper works and prints - if the artist didn’t frame it, it goes in a plain white floater, with full sheet exposed. 

At most, throw it in a white (maybe, maybe black) tray frame like Acme if you absolutely must add some “finish” to it.
