Chantal Joffe release today at 1400, by crassusstorm on Mar 5, 2024 19:38:24 GMT 1, I bought one of these - saw Chantal Joffe give a talk at the Royal Academy a couple of years ago and really connected with her work. She talked about her admiration for the women artists who were central to the development of modernism in Europe in the early 20th century: Paula Modersohn-Becker, Kӓthe Kollwitz, Gabriele Münter and Marianne Werefkin. As the RA notes, ‘Joffe’s own arresting portraits of women bring a combination of insight and integrity, as well as psychological and emotional force, to the genre of figurative art.’
This print is small, but well worth the price, I think, for a signed etching.
