Insuring just your art..., by TAOI on Apr 20, 2008 19:00:36 GMT 1, Ok, first post as TAOI A policy that I think a lot of people may find helpful is the Hiscox Fine Art Policy. You can keep your current policy in place and use this to just cover your art (if over £15k in value). Benefits can include (but aren't limited to):
- Agreed valuations. - Physical loss/damage worldwide AND includes transit risk. - New acquisitions automatically included in the policy upto 25% of the total amount insured. - In the event of theft, if the piece is recovered you have the option of a) keeping the money or b) re-purchase the piece from Hiscox. - Defective title cover. - Fast payout in the event of a claim + you get to deal with TAOI ;D
It is often fairly hard to get hold of but can now easily be obtained via TAOI at www.TAOI.co.uk where policy key features can also be found.

Whats wrong with that? If there's an avenue then why not? When you paid £25 for a print you never think about insurance, but when you have a few of those £25 prints that are now worth a little more then it's wise. My heart is always missing beats when the kids are flying around the house very close to the originals

I first joined this forum in 2006 and we're actually a Chartered Company who's only set up this service to help people out. It was set up after I tried to insure my Neates and met one dead end after another. You don't need to use the service, but considering it's being offered by someone who really appreciates art and has a fairly comprehensive collection then I'm not sure your observation is fully founded. Many people have bought art that over time has become an important part of their financial portfolio - even if they bought it with pure intensions. TAOI isn't forcing people to get insurance, just offering a way to get it from leading companies if they chose to have it, or offer advise to people if they want it.

Insuring just your art..., by Prescription Art on Apr 20, 2008 23:58:30 GMT 1, This is a nice idea, but personally i'd like to have a bit of reassurance about the company and it's history before handing over all the details of where I live, my home security arrangements, whether i'm in during the day and a list of all my artwork to a website.

Like I say, the website is there if you want it. If not give us a call. We're also on the FSA register - 439768. www.fsa.gov.uk/register/firmPermissions.do?sid=159283

Chubb, hands down. PM me if you are interested and I can discuss details and put you in touch with my broker who handles that for me. Good guy who is a fan of street/urban art.
