Sure, but not exactly in the same price range though. Group #5 is $1700. You could absolutely argue that you get more with your money paying 5-6k for those much more limited prints. Maybe you think the image is weaker for Hope.. still, 1.7k and 5-6k is a huge difference for a print.

It's funny how people throw in that argument. As if more than 3k+ is something everyone has laying around in a shoebox to spend on art. Economy is one strong factor, and believe it or not. Some actually do like this work, and wants it on the wall.

I’ve realised that I got caught up in the hype and bought this because I thought everyone else on the forum was buying it but now the edition has sold out there doesn’t seem to be much interest in buying on secondary and now I’m in a panic that I won’t recoup my costs so I need to shift it ASAP. Also the forum have now moved on to the next AA release which actually looks quite interesting. Hmmm… maybe I’ll take a ping on that one too… 🙈 Repeat to fade.

The red Hirst Empresses are a prime example. That hype train really chugged.

There are undeniable parallels between the two, there has been some unprecedented hype with Pejac since the Bollywood actresses Instagram post along  with the slew of curated auction items that hit it big. But now, there are prints at auction that haven’t even hit cost such as SFSC (EE) & NW. And these are low edition prints, on Artsy alone you almost have 10% of the total edition sitting unsold there.

Now here’s this release, 10x his typical release size. No real hand finishing at all, especially if you compare it to his other ones. So what does this print have? The “every print is unique,” tagline? I havent really seen that help bolster other artists either. I do think this release is more so, simply capitalizing on the hype; especially since I havent heard of his earlier prints having a no resale clause.

 

If he's entered the draw, AA will automatically take payment if he is successful. He'd have inputted his bank details when entering.

To be fair, I don't think AA were surprised that bots are buying these.  They were simply surprised that the bots got through the Captcha images thing.  And so am I, to be honest. I'm still trying to work out in my head how bots can do that.  I even get them wrong myself sometimes and I'm not a bot.

Gonna enter for 750-1000, and be looking for a ~#200ish to put a triptych together.

If I don’t win a >750 might just sell the one I’ve got. Not complaining about the methodology but doing it this way kind of forces me to go secondary to display these as intended. I’m ok doing that for one of three pieces but less enthused if I need to acquire two at secondary prices.
