Pejac & Avant Arte - A new print series, by cemltz on Jul 5, 2024 20:05:15 GMT 1, In a nutshell its image 8, just with more steps. They’ve stripped away a layer of people for each successive print. Almost feel that would’ve come about naturally as they tested the print. Either way, concept is neat, going to try for one! Wish it was a different picture, the idea of “Hope” being associated with the image of a rift as people come together? 🥴 Cant overthink it I guess. it is important to note that this does not appear to be 100% correct - this is not purely and exercise of “addition”, where the artists adds 3-4 more characters to the existing piece, they take a picture, repeat. If you watch the videos you will see that the piece gets reworked, as all artists do -some of the existing characters get tweaked, reworked, paired with new characters, deleted, etc. So all of the characters in edition 300 are not exactly the same in edition 800. And you cannot get exactly edition 300 by just taking an eraser to edition 800. At least that is how it appears (and makes sense, given how a piece of this scale and complexity would evolve) and would be an important part of the “living” element of the piece.
It does not appear to be just a Craig Alan piece (nothing against Craig Alan, I like and own his works) where he works in paint and they take a picture every so often. This is a sketch that evolves.

Pejac & Avant Arte - A new print series, by Acme Thunderer on Jul 5, 2024 20:09:42 GMT 1, Honestly who gives a shit who applied the gold - if you like the print go for it. I am still undecided - I like the concept just not totally sold on the image. Well AA are advertising it as “hand finished prints by Pejac” so seems like a fairly simple question. If Pejac is not doing the gold leaf hand finishing then that is misleading.

It makes you wonder why people pay so much more for hand finished prints since no one cares. 😉

These are exactly the folks who this world takes advantage of, and good on you recognizing and responding to the need. Energy well spent!

How high do you guys reckon the demand is going to be for these. And pure speculation, do you think there will be a bigger fight over the cheaper or more expensive editions?

Pejac & Avant Arte - A new print series, by jordansw on Jul 5, 2024 22:56:00 GMT 1, I got this response from AA. Still a little confused what is hand finished by Pejac.
The gold leaf is applied by a specialist gilder, under Pejac’s supervision. This was in order to achieve the best finishing possible — applying gold leaf is a technical skill and so requires an expert to achieve the best result.

The gold leaf is applied by a specialist gilder, under Pejac’s supervision. This was in order to achieve the best finishing possible — applying gold leaf is a technical skill and so requires an expert to achieve the best result. I don’t think anything is actually hand finished by Pejac. He may tell them which figures to do, but gold leaf is finicky if he’s not used to it, particularly for small details. Likely executed under his artistic direction rather than by his actual hand. Which is not at all unusual in the print world…

Sounds like they ship in an AA crate, which I have reused for storage of a few prints, but it makes it a bit costly. £221+taxes stings a bit when hoping for one of the cheaper prints and shipping to Oz

Pejac & Avant Arte - A new print series, by cemltz on Jul 6, 2024 1:20:12 GMT 1, Pejac is constantly described as an amazing artist - he doesn’t need a “master guilder” to apply gold leaf! 🤣 For anyone doubting how difficult it is, see this tutorial for how quickly it can be done using glue and paint brushes - something you would think Pejac could handle. Acme - you seem to be really stressed about this. Please, do yourself a favor and do not buy this ripoff you feel they are forcing you to buy. Be strong. You. Can. Not. Buy. It. I believe in you.
And if you can’t see the difference in the pictures below, and the difference in skill and approach to application, well, again, I believe in you. And thanks again for keeping me in the know and avoiding this trap.

Pejac & Avant Arte - A new print series, by Acme Thunderer on Jul 6, 2024 1:53:56 GMT 1, Wow you really have a bee in your bonnet at the moment don’t you? They have been clear with the release and description and I don’t think they need to constantly satisfy your questions. Firstly, I am genuinely interested in this release.
I have not spread any misleading information and did not disclose any presale information out of respect for the artist, AA and other collectors.
However, AA have not been completely clear about this release and I have asked them one question, which they have dodged so far. I do not need your permission what I can ask them and I am incredibly sorry if you don’t like my question.
If you take off your ‘rose-tinted glasses’, you will actually see that we are being misled when it comes to the gold leaf hand finishing.
It appears that you (and some others with pre-orders might not care), but this forum has always been good at being able to make sure buyers have the facts before making purchases.
I will make no apology for sticking my neck out and bringing this to others attention. If AA can confirm that Pejac did do the gold leaf hand finishing, then I will be extremely pleased. If they don’t then unfortunately we know they are misleading us.

I fully appreciate your concerns - it is very noble and kind of you.
However, I am fortunate enough to be able to see the difference in the pictures. It appears one is hand finished by an artist and one is not.
If you need any further help to work this out, then you may also wish to take off your ‘rose-tinted glasses’ as they are affecting your perspective.
It appears that the people who are being most protective about this release have been the people who have pre-orders. You have nothing to be concerned about - just sit back and wait for your order to arrive. 😉

Pejac & Avant Arte - A new print series, by Smokeidaeye on Jul 6, 2024 2:32:18 GMT 1, Even if the gold leaf was done by an "expert", is seems evident in the photos and video that he is adding touches of black on top of the gold leaf. So technically it does feature hand finishing by the artist.
Though all of this concern over a single hand finished figure that is about 1/2-inch tall is rather silly.

Pejac & Avant Arte - A new print series, by cemltz on Jul 6, 2024 2:44:05 GMT 1, I got this response from AA. Still a little confused what is hand finished by Pejac. The gold leaf is applied by a specialist gilder, under Pejac’s supervision. This was in order to achieve the best finishing possible — applying gold leaf is a technical skill and so requires an expert to achieve the best result. I don’t think anything is actually hand finished by Pejac. He may tell them which figures to do, but gold leaf is finicky if he’s not used to it, particularly for small details. Likely executed under his artistic direction rather than by his actual hand. Which is not at all unusual in the print world… Jordan: actually goes through the effort to contact AA directly (privately) and provide actual real information. Clearly states he is seeking additional information due to lack of clarity. Admits to hoping “HOPE” is done by Pejac, but seems concerned.
Me: “I don’t think anything is actually hand finished by Pejac.”
Acme: you guys have pre orders, are being protective, and need to take off your rose colored glasses.
wha?

Cheers for twisting my words and making up a new quote - classic. 🤣 Below is what I just said to you.
Also, I actually asked AA about this on Wednesday due to lack of clarity as AA are on the forum (I don’t have a direct contact to Christian).
