Damien Hirst, The Jacaranda Paintings, by Acme Thunderer on Jun 22, 2024 11:31:17 GMT 1, The Jacaranda Paintings will be like Cherry Blossoms, but purple.
Dated 2024, but the video below could have been recorded months beforehand.
Edition size looks like it will be a minimum of 3,000 (based on the numbers shown on the video).
It makes complete sense to sign these beforehand if there will be a thick texture on the paint.
This could be the first Hirst release that gets me interested since The Currency as edition size could make it more affordable than the last originals.

overall, my love of DH remains strong but I find all those recent works very repetitive and a bit meh.
and as I type this, he shows the Civilisation paintings on IG who look pretty much like all the recent stuff. Amazing.

Amazing. 2500 pounds? This has a size of approximately 35x45 centimeters. This time I believe it will be on a much lower figure, which will guarantee a certain effervescence of secondary trades and an immediate return in terms of the transfer market for Damien Hirst.

There's no way you are going to get one for 600 pounds, even if they are quite small. I would be very surprised if they are less than 3K. Probably a lot more than 3K.

Damien Hirst, The Jacaranda Paintings, by Wanchope on Jun 23, 2024 14:03:34 GMT 1, Maybe an obvious one for those in the know, but everytime an IG post comes up hirst has huge amounts of massive paintings which only seems to show him splatting some paint over or recently drawing a line down the painting, but does he actually paint the whole piece himself or does he have other people to do that and then he comes along to splat paint over them? Honest question.

There's no way you are going to get one for 600 pounds, even if they are quite small. I would be very surprised if they are less than 3K. Probably a lot more than 3K. I understand your reasoning. However, these are on rigid cardboard and not on fine art canvas. If Damien Hirst wants his passionate admirer to buy one for the first time, then he will have to hold a proactive art summer sale. I really appreciate it when artists think about all their fans. I have never bought a paper work for various reasons, and I did not own any other genre or relevant works, but between mid-July and August 2024, perhaps for the first time, I will buy a work of art by Pejac, one by Invader and one by Damien Hirst. Obviously if they want! 😎
With 3 works I certainly won't be a collector. But I will be very satisfied for having believed that they too have a good soul and that they have thought of their fans (even those who for various reasons cannot afford to spend large sums).
It could be an unforgettable summer. 🔥

Damien Hirst, The Jacaranda Paintings, by Charlie Bronson on Jun 23, 2024 15:27:36 GMT 1, You really think these will be under $10k; a DH original painting? I don’t see how that‘s possible, regardless of size or what they’re painted on.
Paper Blossoms(I purchased one)were on the same type of card, slightly larger than this(84x59cm), and still $25k.
Edition was less at 900, but I doubt his intentions with these are to make his work more readily available to a certain tier of collector and getting his works into the collections of any specific level of collector; the pricing of these will reflect that.
Imho $10k minimum. I hope I’m incorrect; I’d love to snag one at a great price.

Many of the old grand masters used to have studio assistants paint the easier elements of a painting, and then the big boss would come in at the end and paint the detailed, more skilful parts.
Hirst, genius that he is, reinvented that tired and stale process.

Damien Hirst, The Jacaranda Paintings, by Acme Thunderer on Jun 23, 2024 16:19:33 GMT 1, It’s quite impressive the talk is about how much it will cost when all DH has done is show a blank piece of card. I’m surprised there wasn’t a humongous Heni logo on it. 😉
From what we have seen so far, it already lacks elements we have seen on previous high edition originals. The pre-printed numbering and titles/names feels like they are cutting corners.
I’m sure the final paintings will look great (and I will want one), but I hope they have thought about what it going to make this more than just a set of mass produced paintings.

Damien Hirst, The Jacaranda Paintings, by Blue on Jun 24, 2024 0:13:55 GMT 1, I kind of find the 'he gets assistants to produce his work' a bit of a tired point. If one cant hack this widely noted fact then simply change the channel... its inherent in his work and has been for decades...
In my humble opinion, art is primarily about concept/idea and initiative. The artist who comes up with the idea, directs the production and (often literally) signs off the final output is 'its maker'...and thus accredited so.
Artists have used assistants since at least the Renaissance, if not before... Its nothing new.

If the students slash workers are looked after, get acknowledged and paid, then there isn’t that much wrong with it.
