His last outing at Glastonbury got some backlash, even from the Home Secretary, saying that he trivialised the channel crossings, I saw the same sentiments online in places.
During all this unrest in the UK, instead of being political, he’s just painting animals.
Nothing else to it. On the last day, we won’t get a big reveal or explanation, we won’t get some big statement on the world, or society, just another animal.
But then again Banksy has always received backlash, he usually loves it. Maybe he’s older and wiser now.

Positioning is not great (too quick, easy and obvious) 3. Lacks the motion of other safari works …and finally, it is a cat (not a leopard / cheetah etc.) and that just seems too ‘domestic’ for the safari theme. If it is a Banksy, then he was out all night and only remembered at 6am this morning he was meant to do something so just made this up. Copycat. Very nice.

I agree, I think it's such a strong simple and effective idea and an important corrective for street art to move away from the massive production heavy towerblock mural that dominates the culture these days. Impressive as they often are, the scale and resources needed to produce them leave the public nothing to do but passively applaud.
This technique has the capacity to inspire people not usually engaged in art, to go out and have a crack themselves, it was how the scene initially grew and developed. The fact it's Banksy getting back to basics after the grand and ambitious "events" with multiple partners and producers and mega budgets, is really refreshing. More of this please.

Well that is easily the worst one so far. Worst stencil, but I like the interaction with the wooden board. Being low down, accessible and on flimsy plyboard, however, I feel this will be gone or dogged just as quick as the wolf. |

Continuing the observation about the VIEWER:
Work 5 (Birds): has the observer actually realise that something is going on, although her face suggests she doesn't understand or know the extent of it
Work 6 (Cat): again somebody just passing the stencil, this time with an e-bike, another piece of modern technology
Now it is 6 out of 6: doubt that all of these photos are taken exactly that way to make them look cooler or give them depth. We'll see though ...

More impressive close up but won't last the day. ..personally, I think it's a cheetah - quite slim and the size of the 'chain-links / body-size' comparison is similar to the group at the WOH - who've been chained up for a long time now, unable to get proper exercise nor allowed to roam freely; with everything literally disintegrating around them !!! |

..but I believe I have the perfect qualifications, because I'm 75 going on 116, my eyesight is crap (good pre-requisite for cutting fingers rather than stencils), and I'm not good with heights, so ladder-skills are exceptional.
I could be the very first scholar in a 'Banksy Academy' - not that I'd ever graduate, mind, as I easily forget everything that happened yesterday (or even an hour ago)!
The upshot of that is that I am still young at heart! 😜
