One can imagine London Zoo having mixed feelings about this piece.

Perhaps both thrilled and embarrassed by it. The theme certainly shines an awkward light on the institution, regardless of its animal-conservation and educational programmes.



Does anyone know whether the painting is currently visible — or did the metal shutters go up when the zoo opened this morning?

Seems a very fitting conclusion to Banksy's London Safari.

An artwork that offers a fuller narrative, helping to bring all the other street pieces together.

Like a film or other story told in reverse chronology. It ends at the beginning.

I think I saw that they’d cordoned it off and opened a different entrance.  I don’t know enough about their operations strategy but I remember it being quite small, if he did manage to tag their only entrance and force them to choose between increased traffic pulled in by the piece and actually opening the park it’d be quite a clever way to add to the difficult position he’s put them in as you’ve already described 

Well I think it's a great Banksy piece - especially referencing his own past works, but instead of sweeping it under the carpet, he highlights the issue that arises from places such as zoos, circuses, safari parks and such like. I just wish more emphasis would be given to animal conservation rather than places where they are caged in and being gawped at.



There are a few dedicated animal sactuaries/conservancies in Kenya and Zimbabwe, for instance, where local farmers now tend to displaced and endangered species - but their habitat is being eroded daily by the ever-increasing expansion of urban sprawls and unprecedented droughts!
We should really focus on doing so much more and also be instrumental in helping create additional safe spaces for those wounded and fleeing from raging wildfires!

As always, Banksy is at the forefront when it comes to standing up for the helpless and less fortunate. By his act of creating artworks in public spaces, he is able to achieve instant worldwide news coverage, thereby reiterating issues such as the plight of the animals, who after all cannot speak for themselves, but need mankind's help more than ever. 🙏

Personally like the piece and the message the feeds into the last week, definitely some better detail close up and as pointed out, harder to achieve a good stencil on a shutter. Fair play Banksy back to doing what he does best, getting people talking and mixing up some fun images with some more serious messaging.

The zoo was an inevitable end but I'd have preferred it in reserve..... Open the zoo gates and play catch em while can around town.

It was a fun week or so, just as he intended.

Really appreciated the whole performance. As others said, considering the spots, quality might have been adapted.

I have to say that I am a bit curious to see what the zoo will do about the last one!
