Dran WOP for sale , by pidge on Aug 8, 2024 20:28:15 GMT 1, Hi all,
I have an early work on paper from Dran purchased by me in 2010 from a DMV show in Barcelona at RAS Gallery. I have enjoyed this work for years but its time for it to find a new home.
The work is signed and comes with original purchase receipt and COA signed by the artist. The piece is framed to archival standard by John Jones. Details of the artwork below:
Dran Untitled, 2010 20 x 20cm Black and red pen on paper
I'm looking for ยฃ4,000, its a great image IMO, if of interest please send a DM....work is in London I'm happy to ship at buyers cost and have plenty of references on here should you need.
Cheers

Dran WOP for sale , by met on Aug 28, 2024 21:25:00 GMT 1, Hi all, I have an early work on paper from Dr an purchased by me in 2010 from a DMV show in Bar celona at RAS Gallery. I have enjoyed this work for years but its time for it to find a new home. The work is signed and comes with original purchase receipt and COA signed by the artist. The piece is framed to archival standard by John Jones. Details of the artwork below: Dr an Untitled, 2010 20 x 20cm Black and red pen on paper I'm looking for ยฃ4,000, its a great image IMO, if of interest please send a DM....work is in Lon don I'm happy to ship at buyers cost and have plenty of references on here should you need. Cheers
Itโs a very nice pieceโฆ dr an is not simple to sell like some years ago. His market is changed completely, after the show in Lon don the market and interest is gone down. Itโs my simple and honest opinionโฆ anyway GLWTS
Not sure why these type of posts are needed. People either know the markets or they don't. Great. "Good luck with sale." Keep it at that, mate.
My own view is the polar opposite.
Many potential buyers will be uncertain about the market, especially if it is going through a period of erraticism or unpredictability. Just as we're seeing now, post‑Covid lockdowns.
In addition, there are no posts I can think of that are more helpful to a buyer than those offering cautionary words or criticisms regarding:
(i) the relevant artist;
(ii) the relevant artwork; and/or
(iii) the current state of the market (whether as a whole, or particular to one artist).
__________
When purchasing art, we sometimes need reminders, to:
(a) question ourselves about the decisions we're taking;
(b) properly think through the risks and possible financial downsides; and
(c) make comparisons with other pieces by better‑known artists that could be acquired instead for a similar price.
And so, as long as the opinions expressed by forum members are made in good faith*, they should be actively encouraged here. Even better if such opinions happen to be informed.
*Good faith, as opposed to bad faith like, say, gratuitously negative comments from a clown who is just looking to sabotage another member's sale. Or from a dishonest prat who is seeking to buy the work for a price below its actual value, perhaps by later using an undisclosed alternate account in their negotiations with the seller.
Efforts to shut down good‑faith discussions usually feel like they're motivated by a desire to keep other people ignorant, especially the less experienced members among us.
Presumably, that's because greater collective knowledge on the forum, along with open exchanges about the pros and cons of specific sale items, could be deemed a threat. They risk becoming "commercially inconvenient" for some sellers.
I would describe censorship efforts of this nature as cynical, and as regrettable signs of insecurity.
We should be trying to make the Urban Art Association more transparent, more informative for both buyers and sellers, rather than less so.
____________________
Regarding the Dran artwork, despite my not being up to speed on the artist's pricing, I do think it's a strong piece.
Now, are the art enthusiasts here paying attention?
Do they have an observant eye?
If so, let us play a game:
Point out what is noteworthy about the above drawing โ a detail that casual observers might fail to spot at first or even second glance.
First person to post the correct answer gets to nominate another member, whose posts they find helpful, informative, insightful and/or entertaining.
Provided they accept, that chosen member will then be contacted by me via private message for their shipping details, and sent an official Basquiat or Haring metal pin, as a token of appreciation for their contributions to the forum.

Correct, and nicely done.
Let us know in this thread your nomination for the forum member whose posts you find helpful, informative, insightful and/or entertaining.
I will then reach out to them for delivery of their prize.

Not quite the first, but sterling effort nonetheless.
I will therefore offer you the same option to nominate on this thread a fellow forum member whose posts you appreciate.

A courtesy reminder, if you wish to nominate someone here (whether known to you or a complete stranger) for their contributions to this forum.
Let us know by Wednesday, 11 September.
But it's entirely your choice whether to do so, of course. Participation certainly isn't mandatory.
The idea was simply to shine a brief light on a fellow member you believe brings something of value to our communal table.

Much appreciated, but we will give loui the "win" for this round, and perhaps save your generosity for a round two in another thread. Always refreshing to have something more interesting than the normal banter around here...
Best.
