I definitely did due diligence, and asked for provenance, COAs, etc. You are correct in that none could be provided, and only that most/all of his collection was given to him directly by the artist.
Of course, I went deeper and provided information to other Dran collectors, some of which were skeptical at first. However, once they saw the collection and the pieces in hand (with seller in pics and confirmed with verified ID), they were also convinced all of the work he was selling was authentic.
The tipping point for me I think in terms of authenticity is the collection itself. There are nearly 100 pieces, many of which are artist proofs, which the seller said were given to him personally by Dran. He has originals that are in the 50k range, and prints that are much less and still highly desirable.
Zippy, I know that you DMed me specifically after I shared the Dran IHC (AC/DC) print that I purchased from another Dran seller (no COA with that either). This particular seller has 3-4 IHC pieces that are all A/Ps. I don't think they are that special only because the backgrounds are only partially completed.
Long story short, I'm 99% sure all of the pieces being offered by this newcomer are 100% authentic. Nothing is guaranteed, but I was confident enough to make a sizable purchase. Hope that helps.
