ebay - Free to Sell, by King and a Duck on Oct 27, 2024 9:16:27 GMT 1, Itโs now free to sell on ebay. What does everyone think about that?
It used to be that you could lose hundreds when selling a print on there. Now it seems like a pretty good option. Safe transactions and good protection.
Do you think weโre likely to see in an increase in art sales on ebay?

Do you think weโre likely to see in an increase in art sales on ebay? Funny enough, from what i can tell, this is bullshit they came up with for the sake of advertising.
They still charge the final value fee, all that seems to have changed is you now get 300 free listings rather than 100 a month.
A few people have mentioned "its free" to me, but every time i go and look, it says you will still pay a FVF. (if i am missing something here, i would be more than eleated to be wrong! i have a ton of stuff i would be more motivated to shift!)

Ebay and PayPal are separate now happened a good few years ago. And is it not the case that eBay have to report any sales over ยฃ1000 in a financial year to the inland revenue? Pretty sure either you or eBay have to declare it as income.

ebay - Free to Sell, by its all about me on Oct 27, 2024 12:12:37 GMT 1, I've tried checking this on e-bay and can't seem to find any definite answer. So if you sell some artwork for, say, ยฃ1,000 will you actually receive ยฃ1,000? Seems too good to be true.
If that's correct, what are e-bay getting out of this?

ebay - Free to Sell, by Acme Thunderer on Oct 27, 2024 12:31:07 GMT 1, Yes,I sold a poster last week and recieved full amount I don't get it. If the seller receives the full amount and the buyer simply pays the asking price, how does e-bay make any money from the transaction? Business sellers still pay fees, there is advertising on the website, they now process their own payments (and now holding a balance) and make a commission from selling postage and operating their own logistics. There are plenty of income streams other than fees.

Perhaps they hope it will attract more new customers but I think everybody already has an eBay account, don't they?

"Free selling for UK-based private sellers. It's now free for UK-based private sellers to sell on eBay (excluding motors: Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles listings). You won't pay final value fees or regulatory operating fees when your items sell.
Fees will apply if you list more than 300 items in a month, if you add optional upgrades to your listing, or if you deliver to an overseas address."

ebay - Free to Sell, by trapnel1 on Oct 28, 2024 10:57:32 GMT 1, Ebay have announced it themselves, very quietly and buried in an SEC filing. You can read it yourself - not totally sure what form the buyer fee will take. I have heard 8% mentioned, but will probably start gently with the potential to increase. They are giving with one hand and plan to take with another....

Although i guess "maybe" this new buyer fee doesnt apply to items bought from business sellers, that or they get double fees on those transactions.
