Well, I have decided to sell, and obviously I want the best price.
I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions.
If I go for an auction house. How do I go about setting it up, and if the auction is in august, how long do I have to wait until payment??
I know that there are various fees and commissions involved in that area, but I suppose you do get a better deal on the end price?? Or not???
I don't want to go down the ebay route as there will be too many time wasters, as well as the outrageous fees.
I know someone put a link up to a website on here, and I phoned the bloke, and had a long conversation with him. He was selling his set for ยฃ30k, on the basis that LAZ had one going for ยฃ40k!!!!!
Personally I think that is a bit of a piss take, but if could get anywhere in the region of ยฃ20k I would be well happy.

Firstly fees will vary - depending on the piece(s) and how the auction house will see the potential in it - 5 - 10% is the range, you have on top catalogue fees, so if you want to have your piece featured in the auction catalogue, usually ยฃ100 per photo), then you have 1.5% insurance fees, this is based on the guide price - so before you think you have pocketed ยฃ20K (which in my opinion is over the odds), you have to deduct these costs.
Also 6 unsigned pieces (granted from one set) hmmmm i doubt any auction house would sell these as one piece - Antony Micallef Pure Idols set comes to mind - auction house i worked for refused to sell them as a set, much to the sellers frustration, as 1 out of the 4 didnt sell
Also bear in mind any buyer will have to pay 20% buyers premium, plus vat, plus 4% artist resale rights - so what you think isnt taking the piss, will end up being one
I dont think anyone also really cares that these are all matching numbers, you can pick 5/6 unsigned prints for all under ยฃ1000 each

I think the only way to test these is stick them in an auction house (maybe Dreweatts) or on ebay.
