As part of their improvement process it is UPS only and that comes at a premium. I just gave it a try on the website and the cost of shipping a print to the UK is $80.23. That's before you get caught by customs (pretty much a stick on in my experience with UPS) and pay a bit extra to UPS for paying the customs charge on your behalf to expedite the process.
Ouch. It's looking like the secondary market now for non-US residents although Obey claim to be trying to put a stop to that at the moment as well.
It will need to be a pretty special print before I shell out that kind of money on shipping for a $35 piece of art.

Shipping a tube from the US to Europe need cost no more than $15,30. All the prints I bought from Rene Gagnon arrived within a week after being shipped with usps for that amount in postage.

I have one of those, well two if you count the mini version released later to try and bring prices of the first release down. I don't think I'll be buying too many prints with $80 postage now though.

I consider myself a fan, but Fairey has not exactly covered himself with glory with regards to the quality of the work this year. The majority of the prints in 2008 appear to be promotional pieces for records or stores, etc. - the prints available today are also related to a record company.
Also, the way that they have handled selling pritns this year, so far, has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. There are multiple instances in which their server has had severe problems. The way that they handled these problems, from a customer service standpoint, has been a joke - anyone remember the Peace Bomber fiasco?
I hope that the new shopping cart system works properly, and that they revisit the UPS issue. The shipping rates are ridiculous for overseas shipping.

The International shipping rates should cut down the number of hits the server takes at release time. I predict a smooth release this evening.

I am reliably informed that the problems with online ordering systems crashing, such as used to happen with POW and still happens with many of their competitors, is totally unrelated to server/hardware issues in most cases, which are solved very easily. It's a case of having the database structured the right way to interact with the site's ordering activities, which again is very sortable, if you have the right people working on it, which apparently Obey and BRP to name a couple, do not. Such services are not cheap, although when one stops to consider the sales volumes these companies do, I can't see how they don't think ยฃ5-10k or even ยฃ15k (an unlikely amount, but not beyond the realms of possibility I guess) is a price they should pay, to enhance their customers' buying experiences - customers who are after all very loyal. I put it down to greed and profit margins. Even if it were a server issue, what does a decent new server cost to put in a rack somewhere? It's peanuts to these guys! POW get hundreds of thousands of hits at release time and their system doesn't crash, server shmerver!

I agree that on the volume they sell they could and should invest in a robust tailor made solution.
