It's interesting how the Portraits do command such high prices even when the other edition of 50 print from the show can be bought for a steal (couple of sellers on the board and Frankie at CB).
I think the portaits are amazing, and worth a bit more for sure, but they do command a lot lot more. It's interesting... I wonder if they will, at some point, come down in price too. Who knows.

Whilst I love them, I agree that they seem to be a bit overvalued by sellers/owners imo. For the prices people ask for the pair, one could go out and buy 3/4 nice street pieces, which, if Neate makes it as big as he could, must be worth a helluvalot more as originals, than print editions of 50. There was even a stunning canvas (imo, I know some disagreed; it was the red one with the 2 figures and the bridge which I think had a train on it) that went on Ebay a month or two ago for the price of one of these prints! They're gorgeous prints, but I have noticed a number of pairs available in recent weeks, presumably because owners have seen what prices others are asking and fancy a bit themselves. Who can blame them!?!

Agreed with this fella. while they're fantastic prints, relative to the prices of other neate prints they're very expensive.

Adam Neate red & white portraits, by interceptor on Jul 16, 2008 18:42:43 GMT 1, These sell for a premium because they are widely acknowledged as THE neate prints, and they are also large images. My personal favourite is the Tea Drinker...yours maybe different ? Is Banksys Kate worth 5 times more than Laugh Now ? the market seems to think so. Could have sold these for considerably more 6 months ago but then I did not require the funds for another purchase...now I do and the prints are worth less....thats the way it goes !!

Adam Neate red & white portraits, by smashingpumps on Jul 16, 2008 21:58:50 GMT 1, I wonder how much these will command now though. Thinks seem to be taking a bit of a down-turn and while the market does dictate that they will remain the most expensive on the market, i'm not sure their price won't drop to some extent

I know a lot of people in rented accommodations who are! It might be their best chance to get on the housing ladder!

Agreed mate! I wasn't knocking the prints. I also think their stunning, although my personal favourite Neate print is "Calm Fear" Anyway, I hope you manage to get what you need for your new purchase. Please be crass enough to show it off! It must be pretty special to warrant such a sale!

how do you work that one out? with rents going up, and banks not lending money for mortgages?
anyway back to the art.
