WTB: Faile Box, by snausages on Aug 25, 2008 0:17:08 GMT 1, I was the underbidder on this Faile Box at £6500 cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&item=300251648023
If anyone has a box and needs some cash I will match my bid of £6500 or $12000 USD for us yanks with NO ebay fees!!! If your box is especially nice I could pay a little more but not much more so please don't send really high offers.
I think this is a pretty fair price for things in the current market and considering that if I didn't bid (and I almost didn't as this will really deplete my savings) the winning bid would have been a mere £6050.
Thanks
also, I also have a color trolley, S&S, or Soup Can (us), and a Hirst Opium to barter with if you're interested.

WTB: Faile Box, by snausages on Aug 25, 2008 3:23:08 GMT 1, Boxes were anywhere from approx. £1250 to £3250 if bought direct from Faile. I'm just guessing but would estimate that there are somewhere between 100-200 boxes out there so far.

WTB: Faile Box, by Heavyconsumer on Aug 25, 2008 6:59:10 GMT 1, You could try getting in touch with Gallery Nosco, but from what I've seen of their pricing I'd guess they'll be seeking a lot more than you want to spend. They have some of the nicest looking Failes I've seen anywhere on their site though: www.gallerynosco.com/browse/Faile/ , but as I say their pricing on other stuff is plain madness imo! Perhaps they'll negotiate in confidence though!?!? To be fair, they do deserve credit for getting their hands on some exceptional pieces by some wonderful artists.
Before someone has a pop at me for "hating/shitting on etc" the gallery's pricing (seem to be a lot of people waiting to pounce on here at the moment), an example on a much cheaper item, they are asking £600 (that's $1100 USD) for Ron English giclees that are available at popaganda for $400 + $50 shipping!

WTB: Faile Box, by pezlow on Aug 25, 2008 6:59:17 GMT 1, The boxes used to be a lot less than that. At the laz show in March 2007 the boxes were either £500 or £1000.

WTB: Faile Box, by bobbymeachamjr on Aug 25, 2008 18:45:19 GMT 1, Pricing depends on size, image, execution quality. That one on ebay imo was the small size and not too strong from an execuation standpoint. Jus imho...

WTB: Faile Box, by snausages on Aug 25, 2008 18:56:15 GMT 1, I think it was actually the medium size. Might be wrong. It's not the greatest box I've ever seen but I think the imagery worked really well and the look of it was pretty strong on all 6 sides. Folks on the Faile forum seemed to really love it too. Might have gone for more at an auction house but I think that auction was a little dose of reality here after the ridiculous extremes we saw at auction houses over the past year and like I said if I didn't bid it would have been only about 11.5k usd. Personally I think that's pretty fair for artists of their stature.
I'll still make my offer but I have my eyes set on numerous other originals by a number of different artists so I won't have the cash available for that long I'm sure. In fact I'm still kind of questioning spending that much on a box but eh, PM me if you have something and maybe we can work it out. Thanks

WTB: Faile Box, by bobbymeachamjr on Aug 25, 2008 19:04:50 GMT 1, You're right, the box was actually a 4 incher. I think the faile crates break down this way: Depths: Small = 2 inch Med = 4 inch Large = 8 inch Xlarge = 16 inch
Obviously, more depth = more art Anyway, I thought this particular box was not crisp. The images were a bit too washed out... I love faile crates as they allow you to get creative in your setups - they're 3 dimensional originals on wood. Good luck in your search

I know that at Faile's NYC show in June 2007, the small boxes [50cm x 30cm x 5cm] were $1,500.
