I'm sure there are more people with not nice things to say about Steve Lazarides.

Acoris Andipa & Pure Evil at the Tate tonight..., by afroken on Jul 25, 2008 16:59:25 GMT 1, Having spoken at length with Acoris Andipa about collecting urban art, it will definitely be an interesting debate. But probably for all the wrong reasons unfortunately.
I think the quote from Steve Laz was that what Andipa was doing was tantamount to piracy.

Acoris Andipa & Pure Evil at the Tate tonight..., by romanywg on Jul 25, 2008 23:42:44 GMT 1, Yeah JJ Charlesworth was from Mars I think. I actually thought Acoris Andipa spoke a lot of sense. Quite interesting debate although the questions and answers were more interesting but didn't last long enough. I started to film it all but the sound from the stage was not great so gave up after a couple minutes. I know ******* from W A L L K A N D Y taped it all and was going to transcribe it. It was also being recorded by the Tate so it may well come up somewhere at sometime.

Acoris Andipa & Pure Evil at the Tate tonight..., by Martin Whatson on Jul 26, 2008 13:48:18 GMT 1, What do the knowledge of art collecting has to do with the knowledge of illegal streetart??
Correct me if Andipa has a master in streetart, but I always feel some of the wrong people are getting dragged into the discussions etc. Pure evil is fair enough tho!

Acoris Andipa & Pure Evil at the Tate tonight..., by Pure Evil on Jul 26, 2008 13:59:36 GMT 1, I didnt really want to talk about 'how to collect street art ' so I just focussed on getting people hyped about some artists I really rate and respect, so I showed clips and pics from Zezao Boris Hoppek / Miss Van C215 Swoon Calma Eine Fefe Talavera Kenor Olivier Kosta - Thefaine Conor Harrington at FAME Sten -Lex- Herbert Baglione
and I opened with a video of John Cardiel and Mark Gonzalez skateboarding to draw a paralell with skateboarding and street art....

Acoris Andipa & Pure Evil at the Tate tonight..., by Martin Whatson on Jul 26, 2008 18:16:00 GMT 1, What I was hoping for PE.
I have just many examples of people not connected to streetart in any way getting pulled in in discussions they dont normally should be in.
We have a photojournalist here in Norway that is interested in streetart. And after a couple of trips to Barcelona and Berlin he put up a "streetart" exhibition with his overphotoshopped photos of streetart selling them for 2,5 k each in editions of 3. He has never touched a can or cut a stencil in his life, but suddenly he is the Norwegian expert on streetart. He even managed to pronounce (?) Banksy, Bansky when he did a tour at his exhibit!!
I dont know enough about Acoris to say he hasent got any knowledge, but I think they could have gotten someone else then him doing the discussion together with Pure Evil! :S
Or am I completely wrong about this??

You may be missing the point here.
The talk was named 'Collecting Street Art' (as opposed to 'Being A Street Artist' or 'How To Cut A Stencil').
It was given by Pure Evil and JJ Charlesworth. Cedar Lewisohn and Acoris Andipa were simply on the panel to take part in the subsequent discussion chaired by a woman whose name escapes me.
Tate Modern billed the event as "Street Art [sic] and gallerist Pure Evil and art critic JJ Charlesworth discuss the various aspects of collecting street art and the pitfalls of this growing market." In this respect, the talks themselves were off-topic.
The subject of actually collecting street art was only really covered during the panel discussion. In my view, Acoris Andipa was one of the strongest contributors. It also became clear during the discussion that it would have been a good idea to include someone from Tate Modern's acquisitions department on the panel.
Unfortunately, the woman chairing did not encourage more prolonged exchanges of views between the panel members. All in all, this was somewhat of a wasted opportunity, largely due to lack of organisation and preparation on Tate Modern's part.
