2nd Cans Festival • 2008, by Jef Aerosol on Aug 24, 2008 10:58:14 GMT 1, I'm not even talking about artists being told in advance, but everybody, anyone who would like to attend the event : how can you organize yourself for a week-end in London when you learn about an event only the day before it starts ? This makes the event very "elite" or just for those "in the know"... Yeah, I know just what you mean Jef  Its easy for people that live up in London to pop down to something like this  but for me it comes down to cost of travel?  Petrol + Car Park + Underground Day Ticket + do I need to book a hotel? Any talk of needing to fly to a show puts it way out of my reach
Silky, I understand what you mean, but I wasn't talking about money at all. I was only dealing with the very short notice which prevents non-londoners and foreigners from attending the show.

Loved the David Walker, loved the Waleska Nomura, the Inkie, the Sweet Toof...the list just goes on. Got to see Grafter start and end a piece which was cool too..

It was good to see more freehand stuff, but I was hoping maybe we'd see a freehand Banksy up there with them. Having said that, Cans 2 is by now means a disappointment to me at all !

Wife gives me that look every time I go near the computer. Looks like another fantastic event with some cracking pieces. Will sneak a longer look later at the images Silky.

I wouldn't say one's better than the other too difficult to compare for reasons mentioned above.
Well worth the trip, as it's a great reminder that great street art doesn't need to be bought or sold via an online "gallery" it just needs to be seen. Lucy M, Vhils and Pure Evil's I Am So Underground where my faves.

I didn't go to either day, but the Faile there and also other great artists puts it over day 2. I only saw a few pictures of works I liked by Pure Evil, Conor Harrington and my favorite piece was by an artist I didn't know before "I-Lib"

I'd really like to know who did that one too hc - I think it was one of the strongest images there. I know what you mean about Miss Bugs, but I think it's a bit too minimal for them somehow. I can't help thinking that if you took the wings, bones and tongues out of DFace's work, it might develop into something like this - very graphic.

I have people who come into the gallery who try to 'out-do' me on pure evil knowledge because they dont know im actually mr PE.
As an analogy, its a bit like being a grommet skateboarder and going into a skate shop and having the guys in the store look down their noses at you because you dont know what size wheels to get .... I used to hate that stuff.
