Old Shep Fairey Prints (OBEY) 97, 01, etc, by jacory on Sept 5, 2008 17:57:15 GMT 1, how many Shep Fairey posters are there out there? in just the small amount of time i've been paying attention to this stuff (a few months), i've seen dozens of various prints - oftentimes with many varieties of the same print (i.e. different color). it really seems like he's completely flooded the market with his stuff. isn't that going to really hurt the actual value of his work over the years? yes? no? thoughts? what artists, in you guys' opinion have flooded the market with their stuff? (faile is another one that comes to mind...the same designs in their prints over and over and over...)

Old Shep Fairey Prints (OBEY) 97, 01, etc, by buffin on Sept 5, 2008 18:37:11 GMT 1, 450 most weeks but sometimes there are 2 editions or 750 like last night. They are $35/$45 a go so you can't compare with the likes of Faile. If you buy because you like them you can stick them on the wall with pins instead of worrying about archival this and that.

Old Shep Fairey Prints (OBEY) 97, 01, etc, by buffin on Sept 5, 2008 19:17:08 GMT 1, I wouldn't like to have to sign all those every week! Bear in mind those are cheap posters. If you want the better stuff you go for one of his fine art/HPMs, which are a lot more expensive but lovely. Horses for courses.

Old Shep Fairey Prints (OBEY) 97, 01, etc, by bonesy on Sept 6, 2008 5:49:10 GMT 1, isn't that going to really hurt the actual value of his work over the years? yes? no? thoughts?
Shepard has no concern about flooding the market and after sale values of his prints. He produces an amazing amount of work and keeps his prices low so "anyone" can afford them. As his popularity has grown the "values" of his hard to get museum/ exhibit work has grown too.

do you own any of his "cheap posters" ?? they are still what most round here would describe as art prints and the same quality he just does them cheap! same paper & printing quality as say Banksy..........
