I thought that about a couple of the Banksy prints... then checked the average price according to Expressobeans to see what the figures are. It looks like about half are below average and half over. Its also tough to keep up with whats sold straight away, as I did see a couple that went for well under average. All in all, I'd take it over fleabay any day!

, by plymman on Jan 19, 2008 12:13:28 GMT 1, I think when there's no listing fee's, expiry times etc.. involved, people will just ask top money and leave it sitting there until it sells. A lot seems expensive compared to Ebay final values, bear in mind the Expresso beans average is set over a period of time and in the real world prices are changing (for the most part dropping) week on week.

, by finsburyparkranger on Jan 19, 2008 13:33:31 GMT 1, Remember the site is just organising all the peer to peer offers that were being made before but now you can see the information in a more logical way. Some people will be happy to sit out for a good price others will want a quick sale. Either way the web site is designed to show case the person with the lowest offer over the silly prices.
Out of interest when i went to the business design centre for the London art fair whilst hanging out with Matt small i met two dudes that had used the web site (one bought and one sold). One bought a faile that others were saying was too pricey (£2'800), he said he didn't think it was too pricey as it was a really nice piece.
Personally I would prefer people to put up older interesting art on the site even if they are asking for top dollar just to have the option of unusual art that you may not have available anywhere else. If anyones got any old banksy originals for example and they fancy putting a silly price for them, feel free (as long as its not a communal piece thats been nicked). People arn't stupid, they can make up their own mind whats a good deal and whats not. Its just nice seeing a glimpse of stuff that rarely appears in public in my opinion.

Just PM or email me (fpr@) your user name and I'll delete your account. There is supposed to be a way of doing it your self without asking admin but i can't find it, will chat to the programmer about that one.

I would hope there's quite a bit of haggling to be done on that particular post. Other than that it's a great site.

No, just weird that someone would want to drag this fact up at the risk of starting another bloody drama.
