Older Signed Banksy, by anthoz on Sept 25, 2008 18:37:40 GMT 1, I have decided that I dont think my Stop and Search or Colour Trolleys will ever see the walls.
I have also decided that I now wish to swap both of these for an older,signed,mint Banksy print.
Both of the above prints were bought by me direct and come with full prov, mint condition etc.
I propose the following:
My S&S plus my Colour Trolley plus ยฃ1000 in cash for the print you may offer.
If anyone has any ideas what prints may be a suitable swap for the above the let me know. Also if you have a print to swap PM me and we can discuss.
I am realist and put the value of my prints at 2250 and 1750 respectively hence my package being worth around 5k
if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

You might get a signed rat in that price bracket, but think J&J or CND are your probable offers in theat region - your prints +/- ยฃ4.5K, J&J / CND about ยฃ4.5K |

Good luck and great move. Better to get something you love on the walls than 2 you dont stuck in a folder.

As you rightly point out CND and J&J fall below that figure as would GR (If you can consder GR to be an older signed Banksy!)
I would go for a straight swap with your two for a classic such as Toxic Mary as others such as WSM, FC, LN, etc would be far higher in value?
Alternitively I would reconsider letting the color Trolley's go as it really is a fantastic image and with the right frame it can look amazing, I have several signed 'old' Banksy's, but the most recent Trolley's is my favorite framed image by a long way!!!!

Just when i finally thought i had made a decision you throw that wildcard back at me.
To be honest i think its a bit of an odd deal, as you say there are not many prints that fall into my ballpark figures.
I suppose a rat would be my first choice out of the bunch mentioned but i do like CND.
Perhaps i should save some more or throw some other goodies into the mix so i can finally get myself a happy choppers or soupcan or another older signed piece.
will be interesting to see what prices the prints achieve in the Lyon and Turnbull auction.
If i remember correctly a signed happy choppers was sold at bargain prices in a recent publicised auction a few months back.
thats the joy of art and buying art....its a bit of a gamble and its lots to do with luck and timing

Truth is Anthoz probably hasn't seen it and when you look at Trolley's (colour) unframed it is a bloody nightmare to even imagine what type of frame to use due to the two dominating and powerful colours used, it's almost as if it isn't gonna look good in ANY type of frame and so it seems to put a lot of people off hanging it on their wall.
I was just trying to put a different view on things as I beleive once framed this is probably one of the best Banksy's out there.
If still determined to swap then I would definiteley offer both prints for a Grin Reaper, no cash needed!

I have two signed Rats, Love Rat and Worthless, I bought them for different reasons,.
I was going through a shit time privately and the worthless rat just seemed to sum up how I felt at that point in my life and so I decided to hang it on my wall in some perverse way of venting my frustration!
I then bought Love rat when I was feeling better about things!
I have 2 children and I have vowed never to let the Rats go, they are basically the property of my kids!!
Anyway, a long way round but I am slowly trying to get to a point! The Rats IMO are not the most colorful or exciting Banksy images out there, but as a collector they are about as important as it gets with Banksy's work, immeadiately associated with Banksy whenever seen. If you want a Banksy for it's importance and historical value then these are it, if you are looking for a print to hang on the wall that is pleasing to the eye then I would avoid buying these, i feel you would be disappointed!
Frame the Trolley's mate, sell the S&S and put the money aside towards a Grin Reaper!!
Just an opinion remember, we all see things differently! ;D

Trolleys is one of my favourite Banksy's too but I prefer the black and white version, only have unsigned unfortunately.
