jose parla pirate alphabet #3, by covertshadowops on Oct 6, 2008 19:56:48 GMT 1, well, i was not putting the seller down i can see he has a great rating. i was merely saying the 'possiblity'.
good luck to you ricosg11.... hats off in fact for going to ebay. i am not hating. just strange to see no one take his offer then at $6400.
well, i might put my watercolour on ebay then after this.

jose parla pirate alphabet #3, by ricosg11 on Oct 6, 2008 20:22:12 GMT 1, Thanks Frankie, but that holds such a special place for me. Forged my first gallery relationship where they took a chance selling to me, and it was my first serious art purchase, and not to mention it is a very fine example (err the best)... Its been quite a journey since I first met "Helena". She taught me the difference between owning art and LIVING with it. After all this time she still gets a good looking over everytime I return home.

jose parla pirate alphabet #3, by rkitek on Oct 6, 2008 20:42:59 GMT 1, Rico, thanks for the tour of the art in your home. Love both your Swoons and I really don't think you have to justify yourself and your selling of the Parla print to anyone. I always find it interesting when new people jump onto the forum to question the integrity of others when they know absolutely nothing about them -- particularly a long term member of the forum such as yourself.

I agree certainly go along with that. I'd love a Pirate Alphabet (any of them, they're all nice), but the Memory Document print did very little for me. TBH, I did think about the latter at the time when there were still a couple at source, but I just didn't like it enough.
I'm pleased you got a good price for the print anyway, even though it did make a mockery of my earlier poast! Still it's nice to have my good taste reaffirmed by someone's wallet, even if my opinion on value hasn't held up very well!

$6400 = £3666 The winning bidder just paid over GBP£500 less than that price, so that's a pretty good reason right there, no?

jose parla pirate alphabet #3, by thomyorke on Oct 6, 2008 22:05:37 GMT 1, Totally shilled up. I hope the winner does not feel too burned. Nice print though. Rico seems like a straight shooter. He only sells art that he can make a very large profit on. I mean look around his apartment, he must have at least 10 pieces of art there. He is a REAL collector.
There is nothing wrong with selling art ,but I not so sure I see the difference here. I think you should curb your putting down other people for selling art. You have just done so yourself. That other dude was just trying to do the same thing and at least hundreds of dollars went to charity. What charity are you donating some of your profits to?
HAHA nice to put it in context.

I had a zero feedback buyer from Hong Kong purchase a $7900 Murakami item off me and it all worked out. I understand being suspicious of zero feedback buyers but I also understand that some high end buyers dont have the time to rummage through ebay on a daily basis and thus have little, if any, feedback.

He obviously didn't buy it for the art or the charity, but to solely make a profit. And to me intention does matter. If you donate to charity solely for tax right-offs, then it isn't right. Doing things for others with the sole intention of benefiting your pocket is not the same as contributing to a cause with no benefit to yourself.

I know a couple people who only use new accounts to buy no reserve stuff on ebay just to scare off potential buyers and help keep the bids low. People instantly (and wrongly) assume a new bidder ID means a shill, so there are buyers that use that to their advantage. I'd bet it would have went higher if all bidders would have had high f/b.

the winner is american and lives in new york, same as the seller. so i dont think he will be paying in uk pounds.
Bring on the next parla print. this one is history. next one should go for more, these have gone up in price, its been over an hour, and the are in demand as the availbility is 1 less now.

jose parla pirate alphabet #3, by snausages on Oct 7, 2008 6:16:14 GMT 1, Wasn't enough to 'show off' your collection once?
Actually that one is still in the pool really and even if the buyer is actually real and does come through that buyer could easily put it up for sale again. Especially after his CC bill comes in. And going up in price? If you look at the bid history, you'd know that if it weren't for the battle between two zero feedback bidders the print would have sold for £1140. So now that 'bidder 8' won't have to compete with 'timjohn' the next time one of these come up. I would reckon it would sell for about £1140 ...or less.
And I was impressed rico put it up for sale at 99 cents to start I'm pretty unimpressed with the bid history. This is fishy fishy fishy. I mean this is as suspicious as bidding can be on ebay.
I don't want to accuse anyone in particular and in this crazy world it could well be real ...but whether it's also possibly a seller putting in an artificial reserve or messing with peoples heads or other Parla fanatics pumping up the price because they own this print I'll never know.
But notice the mysterious bidder 8 and the zero feedback winner both put in their initial bids within about 20-30 minutes of each other. About enough time to set up an account. And if you click on the 'bidder 8' link on ebay you can figure out that 'bidder 8' has zero feedback as well offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=300262779806

And if you click on the 'bidder 8' link on ebay you can figure out that 'bidder 8' has zero feedback as well offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=300262779806timjohn212( 0 ) £3,100.00 06-Oct-08 20:25:22 BST Bidder 8 £3,000.00 06-Oct-08 16:30:20 BST timjohn212( 0 ) £3,000.00 06-Oct-08 20:25:13 BST timjohn212( 0 ) £2,900.00 06-Oct-08 20:24:59 BST timjohn212( 0 ) £2,800.00 06-Oct-08 16:08:42 BST Bidder 8 £2,700.00 06-Oct-08 16:21:03 BST Bidder 8 £2,500.00 06-Oct-08 16:20:13 BST Bidder 8 £2,200.00 06-Oct-08 16:20:01 BST Bidder 8 £2,000.00 06-Oct-08 16:19:22 BST Bidder 8 £1,800.00 06-Oct-08 16:19:05 BST Bidder 8 1,700.00 06-Oct-08 16:18:48 BST Bidder 8 £1,600.00 06-Oct-08 16:18:37 BST Bidder 8 £1,500.00 06-Oct-08 16:18:19 BST Bidder 8 £1,400.00 06-Oct-08 16:18:09 BST Bidder 8 £1,300.00 06-Oct-08 16:17:56 BST Bidder 8 £1,200.00 06-Oct-08 16:17:40 BST timjohn212( 0 ) £1,140.00 06-Oct-08 16:08:16 BST Bidder 7 £1,125.10 30-Sep-08 19:32:46 BST Bidder 8 £1,100.00 06-Oct-08 15:41:55 BST Did someone hire CSI over here? jose parla pirate alphabet #3, by ricosg11 on Oct 7, 2008 13:15:08 GMT 1, Just to clear up more of this unfounded bullshit you all like to spew. Bidder 8 had 100% positive feedback of 29 and has been a ebay member since 2003. THE ONLY ZERO FEEDBACK BIDDER WAS THE WINNER who has made contact and will be meeting in person.
Your not even a good dectective bro. Get a life.

jose parla pirate alphabet #3, by nattymatt on Oct 7, 2008 13:56:17 GMT 1, You lot are f**kin mad.....(actually only those questioning the bidding) I bid all those "fishy" bids so i could see how far i had to go to win the item....Whoever i was in competition with obviously put a maximum bid of 2700 as as soon as i reached it i was the highest bidder. I wasn't gonna pay over 3k so once my max had been put in...that wast end for me. I want it ...but that was my limit ... Some right Mulder and Scullys on here And i have no idea what my rating is on ebay...

The best thing you can have as a seller is a few people who want it.... Don't they call that supply and demand?
