It may well be matey but there seems no point in having the same image on my wall twice so might as well get a new image, but hey if somebody wants to give me a Banksy or Faile I don't mind making the deal better on my end!

Hush for Cept / Asbestos / Obey, by Martin DK on Nov 11, 2008 23:18:40 GMT 1, Good luck Keeping It Council, it should be fairly easy to find a swap I think, although I also think cept have made some amazing stuff. Also congrats on the original - lets see photos when it arrives!

you've completely missed my point fella. all i'm saying is that the hush print is worth more money at present than a cept print. ok a bad example but you're not going to want to swap a banksy for a copyright! no offence copyright. get off the offensive man and lower your tone

Hush for Cept / Asbestos / Obey, by Heavyconsumer on Nov 12, 2008 1:05:49 GMT 1, Timba, I totally see his point. I respect KIC for not focussing too much on monetary value in this scenario. I think the point is very valid that so much emphasis can be placed on pinning down exact market values, that sometimes we can devalue the art within the forum (sadly ironic). I'm not pointing my finger at you at all mate, as I've probably been very guilty of this at times too. However I'd love to think one or two members might hopefully feel that I've been generous when swapping with them in the past and I think that so long as both parties feel happy with what they get and aren't too worried about a small difference in value (which is really pretty fickle in this market), the cash value is not so relevant, unless one buys with a financial return in mind, which I do not, but I realise many/most here do. For someone like me who's never sold on ebay, I probably wouldn't achieve market prices in any case as I have no seller feedback, so market value isn't as relevant to me as it might seem it should be anyway (it's only worth what you can get for it after all)!
Of course your point about very significant value differences remains valid too, but this is supposed to be a community wher we share information about and our passion for the art, which is why on very rare occasions (too rare imo), you might see people giving eachother good deals to facilitate eachothers' enjoyment of the art (as Pud did with a Walker canvass for harveyn a while back, by selling it at cost, when he could clearly have made more oney from it). KIC works for an urban art gallery anyway, so I doubt he needs much help pricing stuff up!;D

Hush for Cept / Asbestos / Obey, by timba82 on Nov 12, 2008 10:22:23 GMT 1, mate your point is taken and i agree with your reasoning behind wanting to swap purely for the love of whatever piece it is โ regardless of whether it will not be of any financial gain.
however Iโm personally not in any position to take big losses on any pieces I buy. I just donโt have the money. If on the other hand something special rears its head which i could enjoy regardless of the value then fine. It would have to be darn special though.
I gota say HC that your approach was a lot less hostile than HOWABOUTNO. Point taken.
I hope you get what your after KIC. Good luck fella
