Miss Bugs 5th June Brighton, by alsbabar on Jun 5, 2008 23:14:12 GMT 1, put it into context - drive to Brighton, to buy a Miss Bugs framed piece of crap print ยฃ470 - or sit at home and buy a Faile print ยฃ400 - what would you prefer? going to invoice Ink'd for my petrol money - f**king jokers!!! Shut up you grumpy cu nt and get over it - you don't like it. Cool. You think it's overpriced? Fairplay, but then you didn't buy any so what does it matter? You want to spend ยฃ400 on a Faile Ed of 160 - grand - so did many and they missed out too... Take a fu cking breath, sit down, pour yourself a glass of something lovely, peruse all the lovely things on your walls and ...breeeeeath! Peace P
what did you buy? and oh dont call me grumpy

Miss Bugs 5th June Brighton, by Billy Sport on Jun 6, 2008 0:27:19 GMT 1, hi scavos,
which one was you then? did you buy anything? I know what you mean about the pricing, figures seemed to climb a bit from monday, althogh they could have been saying them off the top of their heads. The 1 original rule/ 1 low edition rule also went out the window, i guess its who you know...
and if anyones disappointed about missing out on these and/or faile ( i managed to get one around 9:20pm (gmt), there are dennings released tomorrow at 6pm, redpropellor.....

Miss Bugs 5th June Brighton, by Coach on Jun 6, 2008 0:38:52 GMT 1, I must say that I really enjoyed the show. Long journey, but worth it imo. I thought most of the work was excellent. The piece on aluminium was the pic of the bunch for me, and the originals were very good. The huge frankenstien was very special, and all the photos i've seen dont do it justice. Agree the originals were expensive, and they were beyond my budget, but they all sold out I think, so simple economics suggests they were correctly priced, even tho' it meant I couldnt buy one. Didn't get the eye test pieces, but everything else was worth the visit. The people at ink-d were very friendly and free beer! Q was friendly and good humoured. Even a nice little sticker and badge pack for me to pass on to the kids! Bottom line - if you are not keen on MB's work I guess you wouldnt like it, but if you are, you probably would.

Miss Bugs 5th June Brighton, by Heavyconsumer on Jun 6, 2008 0:44:37 GMT 1, I do like the work from what I've seen online and imagine I would and will enjoy it a lot more in the flesh, as the photos weren't the best (in fact the gallery were weak in that area and some on this thread are a lot better). I do agree that the pricing was totally out of whack for the OGs though. I can't get my head around how they asked so much for the work and in a way I think it's a negative that it all sold out today. Personally I think that the eye tests are an eye sore and I'm very interested to hear what people thought of the He-Man + Skeletor images in the flesh, as on the list they looked very poor, but again from such poor images it's difficult to judge. My feeling was that it was a tacky concept for indoor work, even though I smiled at seeing images of the outdoor paste-ups. I do think that the canvas and chipboard pieces are excellent though, pricing aside.

Miss Bugs 5th June Brighton, by imbue on Jun 6, 2008 14:06:11 GMT 1, I liked the show in general...
I only bought a show poster even though I que'd for nearly an hour. It was mostly good stuff. The 'Hurst all over my body' was so awful in person... The diamond skull is just a inkjet printout, stuck on!
Loved the huge frank... and the one made of badges.

Miss Bugs 5th June Brighton, by pimp on Jun 6, 2008 14:52:04 GMT 1, what a terrible show...
i know art republic like to hype their artists to the max but this is silly
you could sit and deconstruct each piece as to where the ideas were stolen from. shocking.

Miss Bugs 5th June Brighton, by Heavyconsumer on Jun 6, 2008 15:47:59 GMT 1, Pimp is the English version of ruralhick! Rarely anything positive or constructive to say and certainly not worth taking seriously! If you read through his posts, some of them are pretty ammusing, such as: "what do people see in guy denning? i mean wtf is that nakba piece about?!! some cutout letters on a not very well executed painting? for 2g's...........! madnessss" or "dale grimshaw = a nice mug of cocoa in your slippers and dressing gown before bedtime at 8pm" I don't think pimp gets why his posts are ammusing though!

Yes, they are as far as I know. Certainly the printer's proofs in the window were. I assume the others will be.

Miss Bugs 5th June Brighton, by alsbabar on Jun 6, 2008 16:06:01 GMT 1, right lets put the cat amongst the pigeons then
Pimp is correct, alot of the pieces were ideas taken from other artists, like Insect, Dface.
Imbue is correct - inkjet printouts
You have to weigh things up, ยฃ4000 for a canvas for an artist who probably in a year or 2 wont be around, the pieces were poor, the show was badly managed and over hyped.
I would rather spend ยฃ4000 on a more credible artist, and feel like i got a bargain in years to come, rather than regret it and be the laughing stock of friends and famliy
