Well spotted, maybe they got pissed with him releasing his own prints and the new ones hitting ebay before they were released to the public. Quite surprised with that happening..
I think POW maybe try to control things a bit more..but the market for prints has got very very messy, will take a while to settle down.
There's a LOT of people releasing through other means these days. Nick and Dface etc with blackrat, Eelus through his own site (though he has always done this), Dolk with the new company.. kind of reminds me a bit of how small independent record labels function. Some are gonna be one or two hit wonders, some are gonna start their own label for more freedom, some are gonna move to majors, Laz etc.
Quite volatile times, do you bite the bullet, stick with POW and hope for a longer run and higher profile, or cut the ties and go it alone in the hope of a maintaining growth and creative autonomy.
A few artists have been dropped by Laz recently, POW are getting new ones in and the competition such as blackrat is hotting up. Hopefully its healthy competition and we see some great new work and artists getting exposed to a wider audience. Something that POW excels at IMO.

i'd release 2 or 3 prints through an established print house but also release more limted prints through my own website...then eventually go it alone...or group together with 2 or 3 other artists & form a collective.

Some people have their own label and then go and get a one album deal with someone a bit bigger. Some just float around indefinitely (take MF Doom for example).
It seems that the key to pulling that off is to show respect to where it is all rooted. In other words, don't alienate the people who put you on in the first place or loyally supported you along the way.
We don't know exactly what happened with Eelus, but if it was 100% his decision, it doesn't seem like the right move at this point in time. POW is too hot right now just to take off completely.
