Micallef-Bethlehem for Sale, by lostplotter on Dec 27, 2008 21:02:27 GMT 1, OK, I have as it says a Bethlehem up for sale, its never going to reach my wall so it has to go. Not going to leave it sitting in the tube or in my portfolio, so I'm open to sensible offers. Keen on seeing this go to a good home, as I had fully intended to hang this myself, but hey things change!!!

Micallef-Bethlehem for Sale, by Poppy Sunshine on Dec 29, 2008 13:40:51 GMT 1, Can't really understand the apparent lack of interest in this print and the low sale prices as opposed to vlh and Nola. Got mine today and it's brilliant. It doesn't seem quite right that it is selling for JD money with such a low edition size. Shouldn't be too long before these are all in the hands of the people who want them on the wall.

Agree with Ronhill - that is very harsh.......Micallef is probably one of the few artists who would not need to ride Mr. B's coat-tails to have significant success.

Micallef-Bethlehem for Sale, by bobbymeachamjr on Dec 29, 2008 18:48:57 GMT 1, was just referring to the quote about high banksy vs low micallef print prices. Micallef is indeed very talented, but so are many many others...

Micallef-Bethlehem for Sale, by bobbymeachamjr on Dec 29, 2008 18:52:24 GMT 1, put it this way, w/o Micallef, Banksys enormous fanbase is the same but w/o Banksy I reckon most would not know who Micallef is. I would guess that over 95% of Micallefs fans were via Banksy...

Maybe, but I doubt that either Banksy or his fan base had anything to do with his work being on display at the Royal Academy, his work being part of the Tate print collection, nor his up coming world tour.

not me bobbymeachamjr....this is a postcard bought from the national portrait gallery back in 2000, well before i discovered banksy....
i was there for a level art and completely fell in love with this painting...been following mics work ever since although this piece 'glamour pu**y tokyo' is potentially my favourite for the impact it had on me that day
although micallef's profile has risen since he has been represented by steve laz, i'm equally sure he would be doing just as well, if not better, without. there might be many people riding on banksy's coat tails but micallef most definately is not. his work appeals to a large market outside of the street art scene and will continue to do so long after this scene self implodes and moves on
