I've got some, I'll post them asap. Just arrived back home from the show....amazing to say the least.

oneeye - I don't know - I didn't enquire - it was enough torture knowing it is very unlikely I'll ever possess a piece -
Jose was kind enough to sign three books for me - cityscapes, Adaption/Translation, and his newest, Layered Days (from this NYC show).

Nice but Elms was better and it was set out soo much nicer at Elms the person who set it out didnt do that great of a job.

More of a car boot sale feel to it. There's work literally stacked up.

Not sure about these. Maybe some quality control is needed. It looks like he's been working 24\7 and put everything out to coincide with his huge appeal at the moment. How many more shows can we take in one year from Parla? Less is more sometimes.

Looks good to me too ! You cant judge an exhibition on pics from a camera.

Thanks for taking and posting them anyway. The ceramics look pretty special, even from the phone pics.

Much of what you see as 'stacked up' is contents from Jose's apartment and studio. Works from his personal collection(including the stunning Parla Family Tree), works on film by his brother that served as an inspiration, mementos from his trips to the UK, Cuba, Asia, family photos, etc. All presented in order to provide insight about Jose's history, work process and what he finds important and holds dear.

Parla's work revolves around his memories. Here is different angle, a different presentation of them.

Nothing on the back wall was for sale - I was told by the gallery owner, Jose will not be working with ceramics any longer - those on display were completed in Italy - if you purchase the book, Layered Days, there is more info in there. I loved the show and will be going back when to soak it all in again before it comes down.
Jose is a class act too - very nice, and generous with his time - I was hesitant to ask him to sign 3 books but, he was more than happy to do so.

The back wall with stuff "stacked up" was a pretty nice arrangement I thought. But I don't think the place is a dedicated art gallery so it's a little weird of a space for this work and maybe not the best installation? And I find it a bit strange that he's represented by what seems like a home decor interior design firm—or something like that, especially at his prices. Anyway, good to see in person and worth checking it out. I wouldn't mind having one of those canvases ...but still I'm not completely blown away or convinced it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

After checking out the Flickr images, I must say I like the look of the watercolours very much too. However, the canvasses appeal a little less to me than those from the London show. I might feel differently, if I were able to see them in person of course, as it's never the same on screen. Thanks for the link Will.
