POW Open Day • 2008, by low3 on Dec 4, 2008 19:00:24 GMT 1, I just think the idea of the open day is great, but the ghetto's were a bit fairer (if thats the right word) for the people who can't get in to london, whether it be twelve days of internet releases or a trip to somewhere completely random like bethlehem. Iweas gearing up to make an extra effort to get out there this year wherever it'd be, so wasn't too fussed about missing the open day.
ho hum.

The POW open day is exactly in the spirit of Santa's Ghetto pre 2006, and were always a fairly haphazard enjoyable art experience, meet some good people and possibly buy some decent art. I'm pleased that we have a POW open day this year in the manner that it is being done.

But the bit i liked about the ghetto was the fact you pretty much knew there'd be at least one drop a day over the course of the two weeks. I kind of liked the certainty of it. added to the excitement!

POW Open Day • 2008, by raiden on Dec 5, 2008 4:34:36 GMT 1, Shame actually. I actually liked the concept behind last years Santa's Ghetto, specifically holding it in a semi-inaccessible place and doing lots of area appropriate street art.
I thought New Orleans 9th Ward would have been perfect with the amount of abandoned buildings for artists to exploit (while being close enough to Art Basel to upstage it)
But even though I was pulling for New Orleans despite reliable information later that it wasn't happening, I would rather have seen the idea behind last years Ghetto continue with a SG held anywhere off the beaten path that would send a message, then just throwing another London art fair that celebrates consumerism.
Oh well.

I am driving up from Hastings early morning and returning mid afternoon if any use Silky as I am picking up some bits from gallerys. Not sure where you are based but you are welcome to a lift if you are nearby
