POW Open Day • 2008, by Balboa on Dec 6, 2008 16:08:56 GMT 1, I stumbled across Banksy by accident in 2004 when I walked into Santas Ghatto. No queue and Banksy originals on the wall for under a grand (not that I purchased any!).
Now people are queueing round the block just for a raffle ticket.
How things have changed.

My mistake. Note to self... read more of the thread before responding in future!

POW Open Day • 2008, by Art-el on Dec 6, 2008 16:31:30 GMT 1, I'm with you Pud, I've spent thousands of pounds at The Aquarium over the last 4 or 5 years. Seeing it all being sold at a quarter of the price (and less!!) is sickening and a piss take.
Any kind soul up for purchasing raffle tickets on my behalf?

POW Open Day • 2008, by uksnowman on Dec 6, 2008 16:32:18 GMT 1, Boy it was cold in that queue this morning! There was some nice stuff in the POW shop, two rooms full of originals and prints.
Alot of it quite pricey but certain things seemed to be shifting i.e. Eelus and Lucy M prints (both nice and decent value for money, £175 for the Lucy, Eelus was similar I think).
Banksy signed photos were good but way overpriced considering Laz prices as mentioned earlier. 2 x Micallef originals. Insect Star Eyes edition of 12 on aluminium for around 750 quid which I thought was very nice. Also 3 Bast handworked prints in small editions (5 and 8 I think my memory is awful), editions of white, black and coloured around 600-750.
To be fair to POW, all the staff were really helpful and were doing the best they could to see to everyone. The queue was always going to be there with such a small space to show prints etc. Would have been better to display work in a bigger space somewhere but with so many people it would be mayhem to control in any case.
If you only want tickets for the raffle, save yourself and go later today or afternoon tomorrow. Definitely worth checking out the stuff in the shop though. The Xenz print is huge! Lots of handfinishing too

How much were the regular bast editions? Are they going to be available on-line

Eelus was signing at 12pm, Vhils at 3pm.
Bast super special was nice, I really liked the one with lots of sprayed colour. Other editions were 600 were they not?

POW Open Day • 2008, by Deleted on Dec 6, 2008 17:53:47 GMT 1, I was down there a couple of hours ago. I had my kids with me and was allowed in at the other end of Willow Street. (Nice touch, the security guards fluoresecent vests have 'POLITE' written on the back in the usual police font.) If the queue then for tickets was anything to go by, then I'd expect it still to be quite lengthy. I'm going back tomorrow, this time without the kids, to get my tickets and hopefully get into the office as well.

POW Open Day • 2008, by alsbabar on Dec 6, 2008 17:58:52 GMT 1, Got back not long ago - what a fantastic day, got there for about 11am, there was about 100 people in the queue, but getting didnt take too long. Once in, lots of mooching about, going to the drinks tent, getting mulled wine, good atmosphere, lots of fun and laughter and lots of art on display. I left around 4pm, and there was still a queue, which had around 300 people in it. Lots of great prints/art on display, the Micallef Bethlehem print is awesome, the Banksy Very Little Helps, small in size, like the Monkey Queen. Here are some pics of some pieces I picked up.

POW Open Day • 2008, by bullet on Dec 6, 2008 18:14:59 GMT 1, If you go dont line up you dont have to, that line is for prints only. And its one in one out and can take 3 hours.
Apart from that the event is pretty much dull with not much to look at
Get your tickets for the cool prints
ANYONE ELSE SEE THE BANKSY WAS A REALLY SMALL PRINT??
