That says a whole lot to me. It could say one of a couple of things. A) The people who bought them really love them and want to keep them B) The people who bought them don't think they'll make a profit on them at auction
Mike - you're spot on with answer A).
As for answer B) - who knows if selling one at an auction would make a profit but the supply vs demand issue suggests it would.

I like Banksy pieces but am not to fussed about owning an original. Put the pieces up next to each other for me the parla will always be more impressive.
BUT
Parla has done very little when it comes to revolutionising an art scene. Banksy has almost singlehandedly caused the biggest art revolution of the last 20 years.
The memory of Banksy will far outlive that of Parla.

To get a little off topic, I'd love to have a Lee Quinones over a Parla or Banksy. To own a Quinones is to own some heart, mind and soul of one of the true innovators of Graffiti/street art.

Banksy's art is not timeless in my opinion.
A LOT of peoples art looks like banksy.
It is flat and one dimentional.
Parla sometimes spends years layering ideas onto a canvas, meaningful and deep.
Banksy probably spends a day cropping photos and making stencils.
I love banksy and parla. Art is art, my opinion means nothing.... But in all honestly, in twenty years which will you appreciate and enjoy more?
