Art Insurance, by chunkymcfunky on May 19, 2007 20:13:22 GMT 1, Sorry if this is answered in another thread (I did have a quick look).
I don't have a hugely expensive collection, but enough to lift it above what my household insurance would pay (I think anyone with a signed Banksy is now in that category)
What have people here done in terms of insurance?
Do you get it added to your general contents, or do you have specific policies? If it is a specialist policy, anyone you can recommend?
Thanks in advance.

Art Insurance, by kayray100 on May 19, 2007 20:34:30 GMT 1, I just did this in the US using renters insurance through AAA. The regular policy covers any piece up to $1,500. Any art worth more (they wanted receipts) required a separate 'rider' which costs a bit extra. In order to get them insured for their current value one needs to get them appraised (and pay more) which I haven't done yet. So far it only costs about $20 a month - not quite sure about finding an appraiser for Banksy prints here either - any ideas?

Art Insurance, by dmandpenfold on May 20, 2007 1:28:28 GMT 1, i've spoken about it with our insurers and they reckon i'll need to list them all on the policy, they haven't mentioned valuations yet though. I've taken pictures of them all, edition number included to make sure i have a good record too. It's definitely worth getting the most expensive stuff valued/covered it wouldnt take much to ruin them...water damage, smoke, fire, kids, burglary etc i'd hate to loose a signed banksy to any of that and have no cover..
