Jose Parla opening last night, by a4mnt on Jul 6, 2007 12:45:29 GMT 1, Parla/Futura show was very good last night (thanks Frankie).
All the Parla stuff was sold well in advance of the show, one of the last few pieces on paper in boxed frames was bought 2 days before, everything else before that.
Both artists were mingling and as far as I know, Nick Walker was there also. Met some great guys, mainly from WC forum. Lots of interesting info from them, which got me thinking and partly to blame for giving me a bit of a sleepless night. Also picked up my first David Choe, so pics of that soon hopefully.
I took some pics of my favourite Parla with my phone, but I'm not holding my breath about the quality. The piece was one of four larger originals on paper (£3k each i think?), box mounted and the detail was amazing, it was like blue mahagony. I couldn't believe how amazing it was. if i can retrieve the pics I'll post them up. Or if anyone else has any pics from last night?
In the meantime, I'll reluctantly ;D have to put the only Parla pic I have, which has also been doing the rounds on WC so I can't take credit for it!

Before I excite anyone else, the sleepless night was NOT because I know of an imminent Banksy release. I wish.
There is an imminent Arofish 'Eject and Survive' though......

Mr Corblimey you told me that you always discussed serious art issues on here, and that's why it takes up so much of your time! But this does not look like it has anything to do with art!

Carlito - you hit the nail on the head. After talking to WC guys last night, I had to keep my mouth from gaping, listening to the collections they own, in line for neate originals and one of the guys (i know who but maybe Its not fair to name names?) had commisioned David Choe to paint his daughter. respect!
So the sleepless night was due to dreaming about being anywhere near the level of collector these guys are.
If you've been reading the WC thread, then you'll see that i found the pic of Patti through there, she wasn't there last night unfortunately....
Oh well. Here's the pic again, just to put FPR of whatever he's doing (still resting that leg???)
oh to be a piece of material eh (sorry mrscorblimey).
Hey, is this marital conversation real or are you logging on and off under two different names CBL??? Ha ha. ;D

All well and good if you've got thousands or tens of thousands to throw at a single piece of art, but for us average guys, there's plenty of good stuff available for between £50 - £150 and you can even get hand sprayed canvases too.

A fair bit of this pricey art that keeps coming up on this forum and WC really has nothing to do with Banksy or his style or street art what so ever.
