New faile 15th Aug, by pezlow on Aug 15, 2007 9:13:04 GMT 1, The prices will be high for this release. I cannot see there being any profit in it for the baggers and flippers. They will be taking a huge risk if they do buy stuff. Strange Encounters shows that.

New faile 15th Aug, by Tyler Durden on Aug 15, 2007 9:17:00 GMT 1, I agree Pez... If the prices are more in line with Strange Encounters, I think that'll put the baggers and flippers off as there'll be the difficulty of shifting them straight away to make a quick buck.
Faile's new prices will get their prints up to the same levels as the majority of prints released through BlackRatPress. It'll be priced right for serious art fans / collectors to pick this work up, but also priced right to stop baggers / flippers from hoovering them up.
We'll see later today...

New faile 15th Aug, by motor on Aug 15, 2007 9:18:36 GMT 1, Personally I think their prints are in the top league and still a bit undervalued. No giclees no lithos...proper hand made job combined with screen printing process. Each of their prints is somewhat original made with passion and love. At least that's how I see it. And true street artists BTW

i agree and think there will be little quick cash in it for flippers. If they do buy the prints, i'd imagine they'd be lucky to get their money back based on both the price increases and given the price drop of a number of prints

New faile 15th Aug, by michaelscott on Aug 15, 2007 9:56:55 GMT 1, I have it from the horses mouth that it will 20 to 30 prints in edition sizes of 10 to 20!!! There will not be much time to review and pick the one(s) you like. I think under these circumstances a preview would have been a good idea 3 hours prior to the release to allow people some time to decide which prints they like or don't like. I think it is going to be chaos! and if the first 10-20 shoppers are the secondary market/baggers....thats the end of that. thats insane....and then the rest of us, will have a massive credit card hassle to sort through...remember, "faile" was taken from "failure"

New faile 15th Aug, by carlito on Aug 15, 2007 9:59:06 GMT 1, rather than worrying about who will make a profit and who won't ....
anyone actually excited as to what we'll see? anyone any details of the number of prints available etc reading above I see we do
cool these will go very quickly..and this thread I'm sure alone will account for the jamming of connections from this side of the Atlantic

New faile 15th Aug, by michaelscott on Aug 15, 2007 10:17:45 GMT 1, "Initial prints bore their collective name โ โA-lifeโ - a line which theyโd found in an old sketch book. Unfortunately they soon found there was already a store/gallery on the Lower East Side with the same name so a change was necessary. The opportunity came whilst spending a night in the cells, after being arrested for fly posting. Feeling low and contemplating their situation, they decided to build on what theyโd already got and to use it to create something new. Rearranging the letters into FAILE gave the trio a new name that not only would reminded them of their current misfortune and the struggle theyโd endured to display their art, but allowed them to create something new from it, something new for the future."

New faile 15th Aug, by niceguy on Aug 15, 2007 11:20:44 GMT 1, This is true, although a-life is more than just a store selling clothes. it was founded in 1999 and one of those founders was no other than Jest. Jest was a painter/illustrator/graffitti artist who gained recognition in New York in the late 80's for his large clean blockbuster style.

New faile 15th Aug, by hankpank on Aug 15, 2007 11:58:22 GMT 1, Even if they were relased by POW, the Close Encounters were printed by Faile in NY.
But I just hope that the new ones will be more in the "old" style with hand painted/sprayed parts, coffee stains and foot prints + whatever and not the clean style of Close E.

New faile 15th Aug, by ambrosiabaptism on Aug 15, 2007 14:49:55 GMT 1, 3,954 now ... these some serious lerking going on !
I'm hoping that they do bring out some new graphics. I love the stuff they've been doing but I feel that they should be pushing themselves.
Hopefully strange encounters was the start of something new !!
Now, No biting, scratching or eye gouging and remember its all fun and games until there's blood, then it just becomes fun !! ;D ;D
HAPPY SHOPPING

New faile 15th Aug, by gbh on Aug 15, 2007 15:05:04 GMT 1, is it a possibility that they sent out the email weeks ago in an effort to combat baggers? so that real fans may have a better chance to buy some art they could honestly appreciate? in an effort to stop threads like this alerting every Tom, Dick and Flipper to start racking up a gram of F5?
