Micallef POW Prints, by jonpud on Sept 17, 2007 10:50:55 GMT 1, Has anybody seen the prints that POW are going to put up next week & does anybody have any idea about edition size & price.? Stuey*Esquire I emailed them on Friday as I have a reasonable contact there. I wanted to know if I should take a day off work, travel 250 miles and stand in a queue for a print I might not get or sit in front of a screen hitting F5 for a different print I might not get!!!! The deciding factor would totally be the desireability of the artwork!! I think its extremely unfair that we have not been shown what is up for offer from POW!!
It seems they are relying on everyone buying up the prints just because it's a Micallef and not because they like the image!?
Personally I love the peacekeeper but none of the other 3 minotor images, likelihood is the POW print will be something I like more, but it is a gamble!! So what do you do?
EDIT Forgot to say, no reply to my email, all very cloak and dagger and in my opinion, totally unfair to the genuine Micallef fans, won't bother the flippers one bit!!
If you are like me and intend to spend a lot of money on artwork that you like and intend to keep then you should at least be allowed the oportunity to view the product to enable you to make a choice!?

Micallef POW Prints, by Existencil on Sept 17, 2007 10:56:23 GMT 1, Thanks for the response jonpud. +1 for that.
I'm with you - I'm torn between heading down to Laz or waiting for POW & it's purely the lack of communication on POW's part that is making the choice difficult.

Micallef POW Prints, by jonpud on Sept 17, 2007 10:59:28 GMT 1, Also...... no guarentee that POW will release their print Wednesday, but I would put money on it they do.
Also, also!............. the way they have done this will probably increase the flipping of prints, if I can't get a copy of peackeeper, which is the only reason for my journey, then I would normally travel home empty handed and somewhat pissed off.....BUT chances are I will buy one of the remaining prints just to be in with a chance of swapping for one I do want or (and I hate to say it) selling to release enough funds to buy one of the after market prints!?

Micallef POW Prints, by pw on Sept 17, 2007 11:04:46 GMT 1, how do you know theres really going to be a Micallef release from POW?
is it just bsed on whats written on their homepage? cos that info hasn't been the most reliable in the past. when i saw it my first thought was that it was something to do with the Laz release, and i don't see why they would choose to release at the same time as laz. also, i would have though that some of the POW crew might be helping out at Lazinc/micallef exhibition so they could be shorthanded so again hardly the best time for a big print release.

But why can't they preview it on their home page before the date of sale as LAZ has done. Allow the very people who support their business the freedom of choice?
Q or F5??

Micallef POW Prints, by pezlow on Sept 17, 2007 11:08:08 GMT 1, Whilst I would be the first to acknowledge that POW have not always been great at communicating in the past I think you can take it as read that if they say "next week micallef" then that means exactly what it says - i.e. that they will be releasing a micallef print this week,

Micallef POW Prints, by Existencil on Sept 17, 2007 11:09:04 GMT 1, I think they'll definately be a print release. I think it'll just be the same as the Insect release earlier in the year. The better quality, more desirable ones through Laz & perhaps some black & white, less expensive ones at POW.
But what will they look like!!

Micallef POW Prints, by notitle on Sept 17, 2007 11:12:11 GMT 1, yeah you guys are probably right. it's likely to be a print, but can't ever be bothered to get my hopes up with pow now.
i'll keep my eye on the site and my inbox. lucky i don't fancy anything at laz really. like the peacekeeper, but at that price i love it less.
look forward to seeing what goes down...

Micallef POW Prints, by jonpud on Sept 17, 2007 11:15:11 GMT 1, To be honest I am pretty sure what I will be doing anyway, going to London to stand in the Q to buy an image I have seen, love and want on my wall!! Had zero success with any of the Banksy releases using the F5, so don't suppose that route will be successful anyway! At least the Q is physical, when the prints have run out, then the prints have run out!! No F5 all day just in case!!

Micallef POW Prints, by Tyler Durden on Sept 17, 2007 11:54:58 GMT 1, With you there Carlito.
Flippers / baggers will go for the POW release en masse - less effort and lends itself to armchair surfing.
The more committed flippers / baggers will queue and get some, not all of the Laz releases. Real Micallef fans will stand a better chance with the Laz release than POW, but it'll cost more.
The trouble is, what if you don't like the stuff to be released at Laz?

i'm sure you could buy an extra LAZ print and arrange some sorta swap at cost. Perhaps POW wont be as cruel as releasing it on Wed and will wait till thursday when flippers have maxed their cards out.
It would be nice, if nothing else, to see the image of the print or prints today though. Having said that, I also do like the fact they have at least given a general timeline of "next week" as opposed to "in the near future"

Micallef POW Prints, by bond on Sept 17, 2007 12:09:37 GMT 1, I don't think POW will do it Wed , surely if Laz is a major share holder in POW he'd want the prints done at a different time.
As mcnuts points out the F5 option is easier for the flippers so if the genuine AM fans are in a Q over at Laz the flippers will have free reign.

Micallef POW Prints, by Michael Jacob on Sept 17, 2007 14:03:45 GMT 1, I agree it will probably be black and white print or two. It would take nothing other than a few mouse clicks to convert his current artwork to black and white, output film, burn a screen, print, and makes tons of money with very little effort.
