Adam Neate Elms Prices?, by funster on May 4, 2008 13:29:50 GMT 1, I love Neate's use of colour and had ideally hoped that one day I would get a colour 3d piece I didn't realise that there was work available for 7k, were there any colour pieces for less than 44k? And again was it 44 with or without VAT?
I think that 3D pieces may now be beyond the relms of many people. Although I wouldn't give up on getting hold of a good street piece with as much provinance as you can get. Some of them are really good

Adam Neate Elms Prices?, by beasty on May 4, 2008 13:54:28 GMT 1, (Almost) Nothing is impossible, however it does take time to get on these lists, it doesn't happen overnight. Frequent communication with the gallery and a real intention to buy go a long way. I think the good galleries try their best to ensure the work goes into good collections and doesn't find its way onto the secondary market too soon. The way Elms have worked with Adam is, I believe, the right way( not too much hype( we do that job for them , realistic pricing given the demand, giving the artist the freedom to do what he does best). The same applies to Parla IMO

Adam Neate Elms Prices?, by christoffero on May 4, 2008 15:16:56 GMT 1, I agree Beasty. Elms are absolutely fantastic and have a brilliant attitude towards it all. They need to know you are serious and are going to buy to keep and cherish and not to flip. If the other galleries had a half similar attitude it would work well for all of us. Even turning up with a stack of cash won't necessarily get you anywhere with Elms which is really refreshing. If you are genuine and serious and can back it up with the dosh then you will get what you want with a bit of patience.

There was a price list, but as all but 2 or 3 Neate pieces were left only those prices were showing. The rest of the prices were for the English pieces.

That's interesting as I requested the price list and walked around with it, there were pieces cheaper than that, ยฃ37.5k to be exact and the smaller b&w portraits (which were spray can only, no charcoal involved at all) started at ยฃ7k.

So, with the gallery now selling work similar to the street pieces at ยฃ8225 (although on 'fine art' paper instead of found card) - does this solidify adams genuine street work. The street pieces being Adams art diary and probably the most important works of his career. Thoughts?

Interesting question.
Not sure where the pieces of paper idea came from for the show given pieces from the book didn't appear in the show ;< and the pieces on paper didn't...
I'm, likewise, not sure if it does solidify street piece prices - as there are so many of vastly varying quality. The quantity could be large ...so I'd think it depends on how each piece resonates with people wishing to get a hold of a piece.

Thats TOTAL BS. They were ยฃ7k ea + VAT, and all but possibly one were sold in advance of the pre-view to collectors that had bought from Elms in the past.

One has provenance and one doesn't. Although I think this forum has proven there are many exceptional 'street' pieces.

I think the doorman may have got his wires crossed as this seems very far off the mark, especially as Paul and Fiona almost 'vet' buyers.
