Banksy Laugh Now - Silver, by bill on Nov 21, 2008 5:25:39 GMT 1, I bet Laz was the person that bought the 'Allegiance to the Flag' painting when they auctioned it off.
Plus, I bet he bought the silver laugh now at auction.

I feel concerned that Laz is the main support for Banksy right now. Maybe they needed to release Nola to pay for his recent purchases???

Banksy Laugh Now - Silver, by snausages on Nov 21, 2008 6:10:23 GMT 1, No doubt Laz buys his own artists works at auction. It's quite manipulative in my eye.
These were also sold at auction within the past year or so: www.lazinc.com/artists/faile/original-art/1774/ www.lazinc.com/artists/faile/original-art/1773/
It should probably be illegal but eh. Who knows how many other pieces they've also bid on. The worst part is that Laz was raising prices every time Faile set a new auction record. The ironic thing is that Faile kept setting new auction records because apparently Laz was bidding up the work.
Dirty dirty.
To be clear one of those canvases sold for 50 GBP at auction and the other for 38 GBP. Now they're both up for sale for 50. But they were estimated at 20-30 GBP originally and I wonder what they would have sold for if Laz didn't inflate the market.

Banksy Laugh Now - Silver, by bill on Nov 21, 2008 6:22:50 GMT 1, I think the the issue is he probably bids up nearly everything that both Banksy & Faile sell and a few of them he gets stuck with when the person he is bidding against drops out. I think he is willing to put his neck out there to keep Banksy selling in the auction house and also hitting estimates. This way he drives demand for future releases. I would guess this is quite common from gallery owners to do, just look at Damien Hirst.

Banksy Laugh Now - Silver, by Pattycakes on Nov 21, 2008 11:51:52 GMT 1, From what I've been told Laz is no longer supporting the market, i.e. buying at auction, hence the massive drop in prices. Basically this was all market manipulation from the start, bidding up your own property to create enough of a buzz to create a real market. It's happened before and will happen again, the problem is that now there is no-one to take up the slack since he's stopped buying so prices have dipped dramatically. Oh and we're also in a global money meltdown, and wrapping yourself in a Mint signed Pulp Fiction will not keep you as warm as a 25 tog Duvet, when you can't afford to heat your flat!

Banksy Laugh Now - Silver, by stillborncrisps on Jan 6, 2010 14:19:38 GMT 1, Your image not showing up for me - here's link for everyone else: www.lazinc.com/artists/banksy/original-art/3360/
This is mysterious. B hasn't painted Laugh Now for years, why would he put one on a cupboard door in 2009? Is it from a show?
If not that means it must be either a 'stolen' street piece, or a gift? Which would mean in theory there's no prov, because as we know Pest Control don't issue prov for street/gift things.
Confusing!
