Upfest • Street Art Graffiti Festival , by UpFest on Apr 11, 2010 16:26:13 GMT 1, Upfest preparation is well underway... All artists have been confirmed and will be released over the next four weeks...
Lots of amazing colaberations this yeah due to the Upfest mashUP... And over 50 artists travelling from all over the globe....
WIN - Artwork weekly from Upfest artists courtesy of Kiss101 and Upfest.co.uk
Register once to be in with a shout of winning artwork from from a string of wicked artists....
This weeks canvas from Rocket01
My name is Rocket01 and i am an artist from Sheffield. I have been painting graffiti now for 16 years with no breaks or holidays. I have painted my work in many countries all over the world and i just cant get enough of painting. I enjoy working on large walls and collaborating with other artists to produce murals of different styles! I am interested in pushing the spray can to its limits and i have have an obsession with painting light.
Most of my work is painted in places of decay and neglect and out of sight from the public, I enjoy painting old buildings and abandoned factories as they leave behind great surfaces on which to work. More recently my work has been focused on organic styles in particular plants and animals. More images and further profile on Rocket01 can be found at www.rocket01.com .
Visit www.totalkiss.com/2010/03/upfest-2010/ to enter with this weeks simple question...
Guest the band... Which virtual band was co created by artist Jamie Hewlett?
Easy yeah!
Looking forward to seeing everyone in Bristol on the 5th and 6th of June!

Upfest • Street Art Graffiti Festival , by UpFest on Apr 30, 2010 18:09:13 GMT 1, WIN a Snik Original with Kiss101 & Upfest.co.uk
Kiss
From the age of nine, I was getting my first taste of it, Graffiti, Skating, Hiphop, the whole scene really. I look back now, trying to figure out what the point was that turned me to the world of Street Art. Was it my first trip to DILK at the Nottingham Montana shop? No. Was it the constant sketching of dragonball Z characters in art class? nope. It all happened with the influence of my surroundings, the friends I have made and the artists I respect.
Mixing stencils of strong beautiful things with the roughness of textures, that’s what I’m about. My imagery isn’t political and the humour isn’t in the subject, the emotions from my pieces are created by viewer. Whether on the street or transformed to canvas the quality of my techniques are blended with the movement of the paint and the layers of the design.
Why do it? why spend hour after hours cutting stencils that only a few people will see, and even less people will appreciate? for the love! See ya all at Upfest! Or check my homepage here
