Upfest • Street Art Graffiti Festival , by Dr Plip on May 27, 2013 0:22:19 GMT 1, It's quite apparent I don't like steet art anymore if this is the state of current work. Discuss. Whilst obviously recognising the positivity of kids getting involved and being creative. Why does so much of this work look like it could've been made anytime in the last 10 years? Why do so few artists show any signs of innovation? Diminishing returns.

Regardless great pics and glad he enjoyed it!

My only job was to hold the stencil in place whilst he got it in the right spot, so had loads of spare time for a chat.

Times haven't changed or moved on as you say, maybe time to find another style of art you enjoy more? There are artists that are putting up large; well executed pieces but with little humor, message story or wit. What would you like to see? Thanks mate. He enjoyed painting very much. He also loves chatting to the artist who were all very generous with their time.

Who did the pices on brown paper ? The signature looks like it says Ke$ha, but I don't think it's her. And the guys with the incredible cutting skills who are they?

Should have said hello coach, you're right! Did you guys happen to catch the name of the artist who was doing the wheatpasting across from you? I really enjoyed that piece.

Upfest • Street Art Graffiti Festival , by Feral Things on May 27, 2013 15:25:45 GMT 1, This is how DALeast's wall was looking this morning:
I suspect the people setting up the climbing centre in the building will be relieved that the piece depicts Escher-eque figures walking and diving in a circle. Yesterday morning it looked like people falling to their death, which I suspect is not the image a climbing centre wants to project!
There's a few paste-ups in St Paul's by artists who are in town for Upfest. I think the top right piece is a free art giveaway (it's on Moon Street if anyone wants to grab it):
Every year I think it's a shame how few artists head off site and hit the streets. I would have loved to have seen some street pieces by C215, but that said, I thought his cat piece was the pick of the works this year.

Upfest • Street Art Graffiti Festival , by letiss on May 27, 2013 15:28:28 GMT 1, What a great weekend in Briz. Upfest was heaving on Saturday and Sunday and so was the city. Good to see a lot of usual suspects, Coach, Mikey D, AP, Shaunq et al.
There was some excellent work on show but also some rather dodgy stuff quality wise. But i guess with 350 artists that's to be expected. The festival seemed to have grown this year and there were a few different venues being used and fewer shutters on North Street. One of the many highlights of the weekend was being shown around the climbing centre and finding out about the regeneration project there. Jody did a top piece inside there too.
Reckon Bristol as a city should be applauded as not many places would give the go ahead for so many events at once. Roll on Upfest 2014...

The work around the city all seemed to be from see no evil festival, I was well impressed.

Upfest • Street Art Graffiti Festival , by Agent Provocateur on May 27, 2013 17:26:33 GMT 1, Stunning weekend, Upfest, painting in a beer garden, sun galore and loads of familiar faces to chat to... quality, huge thanks to all the Upfest team!
A few shots of my boards, a couple more can be seen on my flickr...

I had a few unscheduled additions to my board after I'd left on Saturday, big props to Letiss and mate for fronting up to the locals and halting encroachment on the Lily's, cheers fellas.

And I'd agree there's a complete range of pieces at Upfest, from stunning, to good and onto ok... I have a good idea where I fit in. But that's the point of Upfest imo, bringing together so many artists from all over the UK and the world, to have a great time and tickle (or sometimes punch) people in the eye with their artistic creations. Not to mention the socialising!
The Happy Mondays Saturday evening in the amphitheatre rocked Bristol big time.
Will post of few personal faves in a bit.
