Upfest • Street Art Graffiti Festival , by shaunq on May 27, 2013 23:37:00 GMT 1, I had a few unscheduled additions to my board after I'd left on Saturday, big props to Letiss and mate for fronting up to the locals and halting encroachment on the Lily's, cheers fellas. That was Letiss & shaunq defending your land in your absence AP. Its in the pics I posted earlier. Cheers md, haven't checked all the previous pages yet... will definitely thank them both as it was well above the call of duty.
It was well out of order so they needed gently asking to move on. Your paint was barely dry AP so we found it disrespecful! Most of their crew were kind of alright after a quick friendly chat
I've had a great big bl**dy weekend @upfest and I'm knackered now, a bit like my camerafone after 74 chargeups in every pub & cafe along the streets of bristol

Upfest • Street Art Graffiti Festival , by shaunq on May 28, 2013 10:00:30 GMT 1, What a fabulous weekend! Big thanks to the Upfest team - this year was cracking! Arrived Friday, left this afternoon. 8MAIL had a great time painting his board on Saturday - loads of support and encouragement from the other artists. He found a spare spot today, and did a little free hand. Chilled out mostly in the pup with a few artists. had a blast with SPQR, Ian Fenna, Boe, Irony, Silentbill (who I met for the first time, such a great bloke), Matti, Optiknerve, Mishmash and AP. It was good to hook up with letiss again, and nothing but a pleasure to finally meat mikeydread and sean. As always for me the highlight was the vicarious pleasure of my lads delight when his piece worked out well. He also did a canvas drop, a stencil of our boxer dog's face. He watched, and it took seconds before it was taken. Anyone on here pick it up? Great weekend. Blessed with the weather. Cant wait for next year. Photos to follow, so anyone going tomorrow who doesn't want a spoiler, look away.
Hey Coach. It was great to meet you and 8MAIL at Upfest! Your lad definitely did both you and himself proud with his piece and he should be pleased with himself. It looks great in the photos and looked even better stood in front of it. He's gonna need a bigger panel next year!!
I forgot to ask you later that afternoon if you enjoyed your Buttcomb ?
everyone on here's probably thinking WTF? but you know what I mean

Really enjoyed meeting you too, and thanks for the encouragement that you gave to my lad. I'm sure he would relish a larger board - but I'm not sure I could cope with the stress! I enjoyed my Buttcomb very much thank you. Not sure that it sounded better when my pronounciation of it was corrected - that its not pronounced butt-comb, but butt-cum. Delicious however it's pronounced!

Upfest • Street Art Graffiti Festival , by UpFest on Jan 3, 2014 15:12:41 GMT 1, Upfest - The Urban Paint Festival - 2014 & 2015
Upfest, established in 2008 has grown to become Europe's largest Urban Arts Festival. Over the past six years the festival has played host to over 600 different artists from across the globe who have travelled to South Bristol to be watched at work by tens of thousands of visitors. 2013 was a particularly busy and successful year at Upfest with the organisers, volunteers and local community welcoming 300 artists and over 25,000 visitors to the streets of Bedminster for it's sixth annual festival.
Following the lead of Michael Eavis (Founder of Glastonbury Festival) whom in 1987 instigated a fallow year every fifth year of his festival, the Upfest festival will not be taking place in 2014. Upfest founder and organiser, Stephen Hayles explains; "Over the past six years the festival we created has exceeded all expectations, we've had artists and visitors travelling from around the world to be part of the success. The City of Bristol and it's support of Urban Art has allowed the festival to grow to be internationally recognised and further cemented Bristol's position as the UK's No.1 destination for street art and graffiti. We have decided to give the organisers, volunteers and the local community a rest this year, to help us recoup and have time to plan and execute bigger plans in 2015. We are already looking forward to our return in conjunction with Bristol becoming European Green Capital. We would welcome any support from companies or individuals who would like to be involved."
The Upfest Gallery, North Street, Bedminster, will continue as Bristol's No.1 urban art gallery, offering one of the largest selections of Urban art in the UK alongside a full calendar of artist exhibitions, picture framing and artist materials. The Upfest production team and artists still have a busy summer ahead with plans to curate artwork at a number of other UK festivals and a few other surprises which we'll keep under our hat for now.
Once again we would like to thank everyone that has been involved in Upfest's success and the people of Bristol for their ongoing support.
See you in 2015!

In 2008 I bet you all never saw yourselves needing to take a year off in 2014 (and having to store a full size subway car)!
I've met many people at Upfest over the years that I call good friends now and look forward to seeing what you come up with in 2015. Just a thought but.. how's about trying to get hold of that huge derelict building right by the station!? Would look great dripping in paint.

We shall both miss it very much, having been to every one since it started. But will very much look forward to 2015. I hope you all enjoy your break!! Just need to pick the right time to tell my boy :-( My hat is raised to the upfest team!!

Upfest • Street Art Graffiti Festival , by Feral Things on Jan 3, 2014 19:58:20 GMT 1, Congratulations on everything you've achieved over the last six years; I can completely understand why you'd need to take a breather for a year. Just out of interest, do you know how much you've raised for charity over the years?
how's about trying to get hold of that huge derelict building right by the station!? Would look great dripping in paint. See No Evil tried to get the building for the SNE2013 and didn't get anywhere unfortunately. It would be a far better first sight for people arriving in Bristol on the train if it was painted but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. There's some fantastic work inside but it's been almost untouched since 2005-ish due to the 'enthusiastic' on site security. Here's some Sickboy from back in the day:
