Nola or Very Little Helps?, by robinbanks on Dec 1, 2008 18:12:16 GMT 1, It looks like the Thursday buyers who had their orders canceled might just have got very lucky indeed (in my opinion of course).
But what do you think?
If you could only have one or the other which would it be?
Nola v Very Little Helps. Who wins? You decide!

Nola or Very Little Helps?, by Ruggs on Dec 1, 2008 22:48:20 GMT 1, In a previous thread, I think it was the LAZ private show, I said I thought the 'Tesco' image would look great in print form and now here it is. I think it looks great, but so does the Nola. I'd have to toss a coin. Unfortunately, I can't be in London for the POW Open Day, so it looks like my luck is out on getting one of these. I've tossed a coin... It's Very Little Helps!

Nola or Very Little Helps?, by snausages on Dec 1, 2008 23:55:46 GMT 1, The tesco print isn't very universal though. I imagine very few people in the US would get the joke although I'm sure it will be a big hit in the UK. Not sure about the rest of the world. Plus the tesco print at 30 inches tall would make the kids about 8-10 inches tall (so small it's the kind of print someone would have to get up close to see what's going onโI feel like B prints are at their best when they're graphic and easily recognizable from even a distance) ...and you can hardly see the flag on the blue background.
The Tesco print has a little more typical banksy humor in it than Nola but I'd still take Nola as it's so graphic and instantly recognizable.

Let me guess, you got a Nola

Nola or Very Little Helps?, by Happy Shopper on Dec 2, 2008 0:16:54 GMT 1, Got to be Very Little Helps in terms of a classic Banksy political statement, but Nola has a nicer composition and seems deeper. VLH is, like many of the recent prints, a little like a newspaper cartoon. It makes you think and perhaps laugh, but it's a little more "throw-away" than Nola. I can't vote either way!

Nola or Very Little Helps?, by sogr8ful on Dec 2, 2008 0:51:19 GMT 1, I think Very Little Helps comes across better as a print but if I could only have one it would be Nola. This is because I was lucky enough to see the street version of Nola in person and the significance/symbolism of the art means more to me.
[Edited to add that I was unable to score the Nola print so my opinion is unbiased yet biased]

well said. I think VLH is very clever (like a lot of his prints) and probably appeals to the British sense of humour. I think I could spend longer looking at Nola if it was on the wall, wondering what the real meaning is. Similar to what I feel when I see GWB.

Um.... I don't think Banksy is celebrating Tescos. Not liking it (and other huge supermarkets/brands that destroy communities/local shops and rule our lives, to a degree) is the point.

But you will still have the Tesco name and logo on your wall. I think this is a classic Banksy image but I can't see it becoming a classic print imo.

Nola or Very Little Helps?, by robo on Dec 2, 2008 12:58:49 GMT 1, I like them both, for different reasons. For me Nola is typical of Banksy's simple poetic statements, like GWB; Very Little Helps is more humorous and directly political like Happy Choppers or Trolleys.
By the way, to register my interest in advance, if I don't get a VLH and anyone who does get one wants to swap it for my S&S, then PM me.

Nola or Very Little Helps?, by kennas on Dec 2, 2008 13:06:44 GMT 1, I really like both the new images, very little to choose between the two (reflected by the votes). Both of these new prints are better than S&S, trolleys, morons. In fact you have to go back to some of the releases of 2005 to find prints I like as much, J&J, Grin etc. Quality stuff, fingers crossed for a large edition of VLH and a good chance for a lot of forum members to get them up on walls.

Nice one, as i said i dont like tescos so why would i want one of their bags on my wall
Was excellent as street art, and I like the message it gives
But would I buy one ? Possibly, if I was lucky enough to get one from POW, but I would just trade it with a friendly forum member for another Banksy if i could
Nola would go on my wall
Ps
