Morons was the last print ever., by runningdog on Jul 6, 2007 11:27:21 GMT 1, I'd put money on it. Banksy's filthy rich at this point and he doesn't need to release any more prints, so he releases 'morons' to take the piss out of everyone who wants to make a buck from it.
I mean... "I can't believe you morons actually buy this shit" Seems to me there's a subtle message there.
So to any morons owners out there: Don't you feel a tad stupid actually owning "this shit?"

I own a morons and there is a multitude of reasons why i dont feel a moron!! I think your overlooking the real meaning of the print and what the image is actually of - van goghs sale of sunflowers. which makes the print a stab at the stereotypical buy for investment millionaire/billionaire!!!
For me the piece is genius and epitimises what banksy has started to impose on the art world - some realism

Morons was the last print ever., by saajid22 on Jul 6, 2007 12:07:02 GMT 1, there is no doubt that gambling on there never being another Banksy release would be the worst bet you could ever make. if there is a new print released(which i am sure there will be)you'll have to pay out. if there isn't then you'll be waiting forever to find out and therefore can only collect when banksy dies, even then i'd make you wait(look at all the shot hip hop stars who release albums from the grave).

Morons was the last print ever., by stuey09 on Jul 6, 2007 12:48:24 GMT 1, I reckon your tongue must have been firmly in your cheek when you penned this post runningdog. You're obviously aware by now that there are 3 more prints from the LA series still to come, and if you wanted a bit of a conspiracy theory, wouldn't Sale Ends be a more suitable finale?
As for someone who owns a 'Moron's' feeling like a Moron; I would look a little closer at the Baggers who cashed in straight away and lost themselves in excess of a grand, let alone the fact that they lost a very underated and, IMO given its message, slightly iconic piece of Banksy's work.

I hope they are but I'd imagine Banksy and POW can do what the f**k they want. (within the law of course)

Morons was the last print ever., by alderevans2007 on Jul 6, 2007 18:10:30 GMT 1, Why would POW want to alienate a large majority of thier market.
If they turned round and went "Ha Ha, no more banksy's. that long stressful wait was us taking the piss", then I am sure they would be the most hated gallery on this forum. There business would only suffer.

Yes I am bitter.

Just a simple thought, why should Banksy be obliged to do some more prints at/for POW because there is some prints done in LA? Who is running the show? Does he not have any artistic integrity to decide for himself what to do? Maybe he thinks that he has already done the trolleys and thats enough, the point is made! Ok, I as many want to get the trolleys and hope he think more about money than artistic moral cause otherwise I have to live with the reproduced image without a possibillity to make a FAT investment/gain... and actually I love his image as much that I think I donยดt need a signed copy of it.
Ps: by the way, I am a owner of a sepia...

yeah he does, he decided to release 5 prints in LA and complete the release of those prints in the UK, which was communicated to us via POW.
I can imagine future (post LA) prints will be in MUCH larger runs

would you pay 250 of your pounds for an unsigned trollies that was out of an edition of 10,000?
sorry for opening up a can of worms.
i agree they are going to release larger runs. they are probably in a dark smoky room hashing out the master plan as we cling to our computers salivating for the next release.

Morons was the last print ever., by verbalkint on Jul 7, 2007 2:05:54 GMT 1, Next banksy release will be within 3 weeks. As for 'who is running the show', well who do you think owns POW? Banksy has his fingers in several pies, Do you think he would release his prints through a site which gives him a shitty percentage when he could sell them through his own website and take 100% of the cash, or do you think it might be possible that he is also taking a cut of everyone elses releases too?
Anyone who thinks that Banksy is not one of the smartest business men in the art world is very much mistaken.

There are 4 owners at POW, but Banksy is not one of them. Banksy isn't so much of the smartest businessman as a wonderful artist with a great deal of talent and relevant things to say in his work. He has a great rep in Laz, who is the PT Barnum of the art world at the moment. Steve latches onto upcoming artists that are going somewhere and uses his business sense to try and propel them to the next level.

If you believe that banksy is foolish enough to let other people take his money then you are seriously underestimating the guy. Look at the art world, most artists are so desperate to be exhibited that they will sign a contract for 5% of profits gladly, just to exhibit their work. POW is smoke and mirrors, as i was explaining to someone else, a company may have X amount of registered owners, that does not stop a deal being done to put other people on a percentage. My friend owns a hairdressers, i borrowed him the money to set it up, big risk on my part seen as the bloke has no business sense at all, but i agreed to do it for my money back, plus 20% of his Profits. Im not listed as a 20% owner of his business, but i still get the money.
If banksy left POW tomorrow they would lose upto 2 million a year, more if you consider the potential of banksy prints, the amounts they could charge and the numbers they could produce. They know this and Banksy knows this, Do you honestly think he is stupid enough to take a wank percentage of the money for his releases while he watches a bunch of talentless tossers take the money from his work? I dont know banksy, i dont claim to know him, but i know several people in the art world and everyone who has had dealings with him or knows people who have say that he is one of the cannyest businessmen in art.
And what you said about steve laz may be true, but the bloke is a c**t and i have said that to his face too. There is not an agent or gallery in the world who would not love to have banksy on their books. Laz may have had a hand in creating banksys popularity, but banksy does not need laz as much as laz needs him, at least not now and that is an undisputable fact. I dont think it will be long before banksy tells him to do one and sorts and promotes his own shows. Or maybe you think that is beyond his intelligence
