I own a morons and there is a multitude of reasons why i dont feel a moron!! I think your overlooking the real meaning of the print and what the image is actually of - van goghs sale of sunflowers. which makes the print a stab at the stereotypical buy for investment millionaire/billionaire!!!
For me the piece is genius and epitimises what banksy has started to impose on the art world - some realism

if there is a new print released(which i am sure there will be)you'll have to pay out.

Just a simple thought, why should Banksy be obliged to do some more prints at/for POW because there is some prints done in LA? Who is running the show? Does he not have any artistic integrity to decide for himself what to do? Maybe he thinks that he has already done the trolleys and thats enough, the point is made!
Ok, I as many want to get the trolleys and hope he think more about money than artistic moral cause otherwise I have to live with the reproduced image without a possibillity to make a FAT investment/gain... and actually I love his image as much that I think I donยดt need a signed copy of it.

If you believe that banksy is foolish enough to let other people take his money then you are seriously underestimating the guy. Look at the art world, most artists are so desperate to be exhibited that they will sign a contract for 5% of profits gladly, just to exhibit their work. POW is smoke and mirrors, as i was explaining to someone else, a company may have X amount of registered owners, that does not stop a deal being done to put other people on a percentage. My friend owns a hairdressers, i borrowed him the money to set it up, big risk on my part seen as the bloke has no business sense at all, but i agreed to do it for my money back, plus 20% of his Profits. Im not listed as a 20% owner of his business, but i still get the money.
If banksy left POW tomorrow they would lose upto 2 million a year, more if you consider the potential of banksy prints, the amounts they could charge and the numbers they could produce. They know this and Banksy knows this, Do you honestly think he is stupid enough to take a wank percentage of the money for his releases while he watches a bunch of talentless tossers take the money from his work? I dont know banksy, i dont claim to know him, but i know several people in the art world and everyone who has had dealings with him or knows people who have say that he is one of the cannyest businessmen in art.
And what you said about steve laz may be true, but the bloke is a c**t and i have said that to his face too. There is not an agent or gallery in the world who would not love to have banksy on their books. Laz may have had a hand in creating banksys popularity, but banksy does not need laz as much as laz needs him, at least not now and that is an undisputable fact. POW is smoke and mirrors, as i was explaining to someone else, a company may have X amount of registered owners, that does not stop a deal being done to put other people on a percentage. My friend owns a hairdressers, i borrowed him the money to set it up, big risk on my part seen as the bloke has no business sense at all, but i agreed to do it for my money back, plus 20% of his Profits. Im not listed as a 20% owner of his business, but i still get the money. If banksy left POW tomorrow they would lose upto 2 million a year, more if you consider the potential of banksy prints, the amounts they could charge and the numbers they could produce. They know this and Banksy knows this, Do you honestly think he is stupid enough to take a wank percentage of the money for his releases while he watches a bunch of talentless tossers take the money from his work? I dont know banksy, i dont claim to know him, but i know several people in the art world and everyone who has had dealings with him or knows people who have say that he is one of the cannyest businessmen in art. And what you said about steve laz may be true, but the bloke is a c**t and i have said that to his face too. There is not an agent or gallery in the world who would not love to have banksy on their books. Laz may have had a hand in creating banksys popularity, but banksy does not need laz as much as laz needs him, at least not now and that is an undisputable fact. I dont think it will be long before banksy tells him to do one and sorts and promotes his own shows. Or maybe you think that is beyond his intelligence |
